Hello, we have a nice room to rent, overlooking the back garden. It comes partly furnished with a double bed, built-in shelves and wardrobe, and a portable shelving unit. It's available from the 1st July (or even a bit earlier, if needed). The rent is £450 pcm, a bit of a bargain for this part of town, and the security deposit is £300, which is passed onto the departing tenant. Bills and council tax are not included in the rent, and they amount to £70-90/month.
The house is a good size 1930s townhouse, two storey, fully centrally heated, with a bathroom upstairs and a separate shower unit and toilet downstairs. There is a furnished communal lounge/dining room adjoining a spacious and well-equipped kitchen. The garden is a nice size and well kept.
The house is literally 2 minutes walk away from Honor Oak Park Station with frequent services to Central and East London via Overground (which connects to the Jubilee line at Canada Water) and direct trains to London Bridge (and soon to Charing Cross too). There is also a good train connection to the South (15min to Croydon; 40min to Gatwick Airport), a good selection of buses to various destinations (Brixton, Crystal Palace, Lewisham) as well as a night bus stopping close by.
The Honor Oak area is very pleasant and green and the house is on a quiet road; parking for now is free around here. We're also close to beautiful parks and hills (One Tree Hill, Horniman gardens, Peckham Rye Park). There's a Sainsburys local around the corner, and a good selection of local bars and shops. Lewisham market and shopping centre can be easily reached by bus.
The house itself could do with some updating, but it is comfortable, clean and warm. So, if you're looking for a good and safe location, nice friendly people with whom you can socialise or not depending on your inclination, this might well be the place.
You will be sharing with a 49 years old Italian female, working as a Translator, and a 30 years old Iranian female who works as an Arts Manager, plus a very friendly cat called Dante. We're both smokers and, although we keep the house well-aired and we smoke mainly in our rooms, you need to be OK about this. Ideally we'd be looking for a girl aged 30 and above (though we can be flexible, but no couples please), and for 6 months at least. Also, no people working/studying from home please, as one of us already is.
