Large room with board in friendly cosy cottage

This is not a smart or pristine house but it is comfortable, clean & interesting. The monthly price includes all bills, self-service breakfast 7 days a week as well as home-cooked evening meals.

Comfortable double room in cosy, family cottage in the countryside, 5 miles from Cambridge city centre, shared bathroom. Plenty of off-road parking. The cottage is in a very quiet location off the main road so is very peaceful at night and excellent for stargazing & wildlife (no light pollution).

A deposit of £200 to be paid with the first month's rent on or by the day of moving in. Rent payable monthly in advance thereafter. We'd like two week's notice on leaving too. 2 references required.

It's an excellent location as you have the peace of the countryside combined with excellent access to:-

Cambridge city centre (we are 5 miles south - a 30 minute bike ride, cycle path virtually all the way);
Addenbrookes Hospital (a 15 minute cycle ride using the DNA path so cycle path virtually all the way) and the Genome Campus (a 15 minute bike ride);
5 miles from nearest railway station (Shelford) & 7 min train ride into Cambridge;
2 miles from Whittlesford station (both stations on the London Liverpool St line);
2 miles from Duxford & the M11 & therefore also good access to A14 and the Science Park;
33 miles from Stansted; half hour drive from Stansted Airport & half an hour on the train from Shelford station to Stansted Airport.
We also have good access to the Park & Rides at Trumpington & Babraham.

We do a lot of home-cooking and eat very healthily. We're pescatarian/vegetarian/vegan - eat lots of salads, curries, vegetables and are especially fond of Hispanic and Oriental influences. When the weather's nice we eat outside.

Strictly no smoking anywhere in the house or garden. We have 2 cats who tend to stay outside & are a bit shy - it's nothing personal! We'd like no loud noise after 10.30pm. You're welcome to watch the large, flat-screen TV in the living/dining room. Washer-dryer, dishwasher, steam iron etc available. I'm happy to give lifts when the weather is foul or if bike has puncture etc. There is also somewhere to store bikes out of the rain or if you go away.

We tend not to have visitors on a day-to-day basis, but at weekends may have friends over for brunch, lunch or supper. Although we wouldn't mind friends from out of town visiting at weekends now and then, the room/house isn't suitable for anyone who wants a boyfriend/girlfriend sleeping over due to the size of the cottage. For the same reason, we respectfully request to be asked about visitors being invited to our house beforehand - this has been our family home for 20 years.

We tend to be out a lot of evenings but as a teacher, I get up early for work.
