Quiet double room, good connections to Old St

Your double bedroom, quiet with views over the back garden

You will be renting a quiet, freshly decorated double bedroom on the first floor of our Victorian maisonette, overlooking the back garden. The family bathroom is almost all yours: we’re only in London a couple of days a month. You’ll be sharing with 1 other person, who have their own ensuite bathroom on the upper floor (see separate advert Ref 2395206). Please note: no couples.

Some bills included: council tax, water and WiFi. Gas/electricity shared equally between 2 rooms (currently about £80-120 per person).

We (Simon and Julie) now live in Europe and occasionally need to spend a few days in London for work. There’s one other bedroom (ensuite) which is also available for rent from April 1st upstairs (see separate advert).

You have full use of our comfy lounge, roomy kitchen with dishwasher and washer/dryer, and private garden with barbecue.

About the room:
- King-sized bed;
- access to family bathroom with bathtub, on the same floor
- additional, spacious storage on the landing;
- space for a desk (which we can arrange on request)
- entrance coat and shoe rack
- access to loft space for your luggage;
- Fast broadband wi-fi (fibre).

PLEASE NOTE: There is no TV in the house but you are welcome to bring one as long as you organise a TV license.
We're pretty flexible in terms of contract. Min. term is 6 months and notice period is 2 months. We ask for rent to be paid at the beginning of the month. Deposit is 1 month.

About the neighbourhood:

- Well connected: to city: Old Street / Moorgate in 17 minutes (2min walk to Bowes Park overground) and Covent Garden in 20min (5min walk to Bounds Park for Picadilly line direct to Kings Cross, Covent Garden, High Str Kensington, Heathrow);
- Lovely Victorian house in a quiet, tree-lined neighbourhood;
- Various grocers and lovely cafés just around the corner on the charming Myddleton Road, which has a monthly market;
- Tasty Indian takeaway, award-winning Greek restaurant, pizza all within 5 min walk;
- Gym and yoga 2min away;
- Small supermarket 5min walk away (Tesco);
- Large shopping mall in Wood Green (15min walk of 5min bus/tube);
- Great farmer's market in Alexandra Palace on Sunday (15min walk across the park with amazing views over London);
- Lots of parking space in front of the house (resident's permit available from council);
- Bike shed (but there is space for 1 more bike in the hallway, too).
- Downstairs neighbours: quiet, friendly couple with no children

About us

We are a 47-yo couple with our own publishing business. We have moved to Europe and will only be using our bedroom a few days a month, or might let family stay once a year in our bedroom and lounge. We are all into running / outdoors sports. While the house is not a party house anymore, we enjoy having people around from time to time and you are welcome to invite your friends, too (there’s a small sofa bed in the lounge).
