Double room in Saltaire, UNESCO heritage site
Hi there! I'm looking for a flatmate to share my luxury two bed apartment in Saltaire village, a UNESCO world heritage site. Move in date is flexible.
Location:
Saltaire is a district of Shipley and falls in the Bradford council area. The apartment is a 2 minute walk to the train station for a handy 17 minute commute to Leeds, 15 mins to Bradford, or 30 to Skipton. Saltaire itself is a real gem with a lovely homely, community feel, I absolutely love living here! There are independent boutiques, eateries, pubs, a village green by the river, and Shipley college and the Town Hall are great for event and classes. The famous Salts Mill visitor centre and exhibition space is next door, and there are some great walks on the doorstep to Ilkley (3 hours over the moor) and Bingley 5-rise locks (an hour on the Leeds-Liverpool canal).
The apartment block:
A grade two listed converted mill overlooking the river Aire on one side and the Leeds-Liverpool canal on the other. Secure parking is available and access to the building is by a secure entry-phone system. The building is immaculately maintained (corridors are hovered daily, there's a fab recycling and rubbish store-room, a cycle store, a small shared outside grassy space with a picnic bench by the river, a full-time caretaker to report problems to), and residents are considerate and friendly really couldn't want for anything more.
The apartment:
Has 2 bedrooms (the small one is available), a shared bathroom, a lounge with a kitchen off it through an archway (see pics), and two storage cupboards in the hallway. The kitchen has a slim dishwasher. I let the apartment unfurnished so everything in it is mine. The dimensions are:
Lounge: 4. 4m x 3. 9m
Kitchen: 2. 7m x 2. 0m
Bedroom 2 (available): 2. 9m x 2. 4m
Costs:
There is an agency signing fee of £95 for credit and reference checks. The rent is £525 for the whole flat and I think a £225 - £300 split is fair since I have the bigger room. Bills are around £200 pcm for electricity, council tax, virginmedia and water. One month's rent as deposit required.
A bit about me:
I'm 29 and work for a national children's charity, in their Leeds office. After 6 fabulous years working and playing hard in London, I relocated back to my university town of Leeds in July in search of fresh air and affordable rents and have definitely found it in Saltaire. I always said I'd be back one day and here I am! I probably have the same interests as most people - I go to exhibitions, the theatre, cultural festivals, have dinner and drinks with friends, Zumba, and have started a little Film Club at work recently, that kind of stuff. If you want to know anything else just ask.
My ideal flatmate would be:
Someone who is willing to share a bottle of wine every now and again. The flat is plenty big enough for two but there's not exactly room to hide! Someone who is considerate i. e. knows how to clean and has parties of the dinner, drinks and conversation kind rather than the loud music, lots of people kind. My neighbours have a 5 year-old who needs his sleep and my student days are most definitely over ;-) Someone who doesn't have any furniture! I've already furnished the room with a solid oak wardrobe and double bed and have nowhere to store these so the room comes with those I'm afraid. The same goes for the lounge and kitchen, though we could fit more kitchen stuff in the cupboards if you have any but the basics are covered.
Interested?
Great! Looking forward to hearing from you, please email me with a bit about yourself. I'll get back to you to arrange a viewing.
