Founded in 2004 (as a national extension of intoLondon.com, founded in 1999), SpareRoom has been at the forefront of the online shared accommodation market for 10 years. In this time they have helped thousands of homeowners with the process of finding a lodger as well as helping thousands more people find a room or a flatmate.
In June 2009 How To Books of Oxford published The Essential Guide to Flatsharing, written by two of SpareRoom's directors, which collects together 10 years' experience of dealing with shared accommodation. SpareRoom now has over 1.2 million registered users.
