Quiet property in Totnes

It's actually painted white... the violet is just the reflection of the bedspread!

I am renting out a room in my cottage which is in the centre of Totnes, but set back behind the high street, so very quiet. Going down the hill, the river is five minutes walk away, and in the other direction, Greenlife and the market square are about five minutes up the hill.

The room is south-facing, with a beautiful newish wooden floor and looks out onto greenery. It is very cosy and is probably the warmest place in the house!

The room is roughly 8ftx13ft and at the moment there is just a double bed and a chest of drawers, though I have various items in my storage unit if required (easy chair, clothes rail etc).

*** At the present time the house is on the market and so the room is available only for three months, and there will be people coming in to view the house, usually 2-3 times a week. So it might be a good option for someone who wants to check out living in Totnes or just needs short-term accommodation.

The kitchen and bathroom are cottagey - the shower is great, just fitted, and there is a big fancy blue fridge. The floors through the cottage are wood, apart from the bathroom which is newly tiled.

The other tenant is male, working almost full-time as a gardener. I live mostly in a cabin in the garden. I am a therapist by profession though more focused on writing at the moment and only really here part-time. I do however sometimes use the kitchen and have a room in the house for storage.

The house has both wifi and ethernet - each room has an ethernet cable, which works with both macs and PC's, though not with all tablets.

I have been living here and renting out space here for 15 years, Sometimes there is quite a high level of community. And at other times, we have been more focused on our own lives. It really depends on what people want and how it unfolds.

Covid is very divisive and there are many different viewpoints on the situation. Both myself and the other tenant, lean towards not buying into the mainstream narrative. I think it would be a struggle living with someone who is very anxious about covid and wanting to sanitise everything.

I would describe myself as an HSP - highly sensitive person - and the cottage would suit someone similar. The wifi is only on when being used, there are minimal chemicals, most of the materials used to do the house up are eco-friendly, for example all the paint, so there is no offgassing.

I am looking for someone who is doesn't smoke, drinks only occasionally or not at all, and who is working at least part time. Whatever your food preferences are... no problem... as long as you are similarly accepting of others.

Both myself and the other housemate are over 50, and my preference would be to find someone 35+.

PLEASE NOTE: THE HOUSE IS ON THE MARKET AND THERE WILL BE VIEWINGS PROBABLY 2-3 TIMES PER WEEK, I would expect the sale to go through - in April or May, so the room is available for at least three months but I can't guarantee it beyond that. If you just wanted to stay somewhere for a month,. that could also work.
