Nice double room in a shared house

The Room

Because I am finishing my PhD and leaving the country, a nice room in the centre of Colchester becomes available towards the end of April 2020.

The room is a double room on the first floor, facing the terrace of the house. It has built in shelves and a large window. I would like to leave my furniture behind, so ideally you would take it furnished.

The house in itself is nice and we keep it clean and friendly. You would have access to shared common areas, bathroom, living room, kitchen, storage room, and terrace out in the back. The rent of the room is 300£ and with bills (water, energy, internet) it's around 350£, depending on the month. If you are a professional, you might have to look into paying council tax as well, which we didn't need to pay until now because we are all students.

The house is located in the centre of Colchester, very close to the High Street and Castle Park. There is a nice pub just a 1 minute walk from our front door. All required shopping is close with a Sainsbury's about 5 minutes away. There is also a bus stop 1 minute away with buses to the university and Colchester station.

If you become the new housemate, you would be officially put on the tenancy contract and deposit certificate. Deposit is 447.50£, which you get back at the end if everything is ok with your room and the house.

A little about your future housemates: You would be sharing with Lena, 27 from Belgium, and Tilly, 22 from the UK. Lena is a PhD student in psychology at Essex University, and Tilly studies arts in Colchester.

They are a friendly bunch and like to cook and chill in the living room. They are very considerate and clean housemates who come home to relax and have a little chat in a good atmosphere.
So the house provides a friendly feel with no obligation to socialise. They like to keep the house clean and give each other space.

Ideally, you would be also a PhD student or a young professional, as they don't want to make this an undergrad party house. Other than that they are open to people from all walks of life.
