The Neighbourhood
The flat itself is completely tucked away, through a wrought iron gate up a little path and entering you have the sense of tranquillity and privacy and of being in the countryside.
Yet down the path is one of Edinburgh's main streets it has a fantastic mix of old buildings and modern offices and developments like Edinburgh Quay.
Scottish Widows, RBS, STV and Lloyds have offices next door. If you work in or around this area your commute can be measured in seconds.
The Canal basin is just over the road with access to the renovated canal and the possibility of cycling as far as Glasgow, it's nice for quiet walks too.
Nearby is Fountainbridge Leisure Park if you're into 10-pin bowling or multiscreen cinemas and Virgin Gym. Also very handy are The Cameo, a lovely old cinema celebrating its centenary and the Filmhouse, Edinburgh's art house cinema. There are also the Traverse, Lyceum and King's Theatre and the Usher Hall concert venue all a few minutes walk away, so the location is literally at the cultural hub of the city.
Close by on Lothian Road are banks, supermarkets and shops, a plethora of restaurants and bars not to mention a close-up view of the castle. There is a very popular cafe next door for brunch.
There are a swimming pool and fitness centre at Fountainbridge, Dalry or Warrender Park all within walking distance and the lovely Meadows a short stroll away
