The room faces a courtyard garden with double doors opening out onto it. It has two skylights, along with two small side windows so is full of light. Originally an artist studio, it is furnished with a double bed, bedding, bedside storage cabinet, a corner desk, swivel office chair on wheels and an Eames style moulded armchair. There are two fitted wardrobes with drawers and loads of hanging space. It is heated by a convector radiator with a built-in thermostat which can be controlled remotely via wifi.
I run a small business that works in greening public spaces and creating planted sculptural installations. Last year I was part of a female collective that created a large set of anatomical lungs made out of exhaust pipes and car parts, which we planted up and displayed in Shangri-la at Glastonbury Festival. During lockdown I spent a lot of time in the garden and am now reaping the rewards, with tidy crops of herbs, salads, and vegetables. Not bad considering they are container grown! I miss many things due to lockdown, especially, seeing more of my friends, going to exhibitions, gigs and shows and rummaging in vintage shops. I do not miss crowded tubes and quite liked it when it was really quiet. I’m about to redecorate the living room and my study, so have started piling things up ready for when I can get a handyman (or woman!) in to help me.
As a household we tend live separate lives but do share the occasional meal and social activities together. (Subject to current social distancing guidance) We don’t treat each other as strangers. I am still in touch with many of my lodgers and some have become really good friends. This is a home, not just somewhere to live. It is important that our housemates are considerate, open minded and have a positive attitude. Add to that ‘has a great sense of humour’ and we’ll get along just fine!
NB: I normally rent out to two lodgers, and also have another room available to rent in the house.
- If you are looking for two rooms, one as a bedroom and another as an office space of your own, then this would be ideal, and I am happy to discuss renting both rooms to one person. To see the other room available, click on 'More from the same advertiser' in right hand column on this page.
I currently work from home in my study. I am ideally looking for a lodger with a job that sees them out the house during weekdays**
**If you are currently working from home or are on furlough due to coronavirus, please feel free to enquire and we can discuss further.
