Massive double room in Archway
We're looking for someone to join our chilled house-share in Archway. The vacating tenant is moving further out of London to be closer to family so it's time to welcome in someone new!
Very large top-floor room with two large windows. It's big enough for a double bed, a desk and chair, some shelving and even a couch! Only some basic shelving and a small clothing rail staying in the room so you'll need to source a bed, mattress and whatever else you like.
It's four storeys tall and we occupy the top three floors. The layout is two bedrooms on the top floor, one of which will be yours, two bedrooms on the first floor, and a living room, kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor.
We also have a private roof terrace on the first floor.
It is a lovely victorian house with high ceilings throughout. The basement is a separate flat, and the couple who live there are lovely.
It's a 5 minute walk to Archway station and a 7 minute walk to Tufnell Park Station. Outside the house we have a bus stop for both the 134 and 390 buses.
Along our street are supermarkets, restaurants, coffee shops, independent shops, bakeries, fishmongers and butchers. All the delights of North London are on your doorstep - Camden, Hampstead, Highgate Village are
within 15 minutes by bus, and central London is just 25 mins away by tube.
We are all relaxed young professionals, open-minded, clean, respectful, and friendly. I'm Irish, the girls are British
English and French. We like our own space but often come together for meals in the evenings. We all tend to have our friends and partners round at times (pre-COVID), but they are all really friendly too, and we don't have any domestic drama.
We also have two cats in the house, owned by the British English girl. She and the cats will be moving out in a few months as she becomes a grown-up and takes her first steps onto the property ladder. So if you have a friend you want to live with we'll have another room of the same size, just higher ceilings, available in a few months' time.
None of us are into loud raging parties every other week so if you're still in that phase this house probably won't be the right fit for you. Every now and again though we do like to have dinner parties or sleepovers, and we certainly don't mind if you want to do that too. We are very easy going about lifestyle. All of us are left wing, pro-queer, anti-Brexit, and anti-racist.
Every week we have a cleaner come in to keep on top of the hoovering and so on, because it's such a
big house (cost included in the bills).
We can only offer the room to an individual, no couples, as previous couple drama has caused issues before. If you have a partner who comes over a lot that's absolutely fine. Men or women, no preference.
The housing agent requires that you be employed and able to give housing references as well. No DSA I'm afraid either - their rules, not ours. We're not going to offer the room on a first come, first served basis. We really want to keep the atmosphere of the house positive and communal. For this reason, please say a little bit about yourself
in the first message.
The ideal candidate would:
Be neat and tidy
Enjoy cooking/eating together sometimes
Be of a similar mindset
Be open to making friends in the house
Enjoy watching Netflix on TV in the evening
Please message, being prepared to come over for an informal interview/chat so we can see how you
get along with everybody. Skype is also fine if you are living far away.
