Homeshare with an older person, Marston, Oxford

Ad ref# 16067697

Sharing the home of a friendly, engaging older lady who has led an active and independent life (and her much loved cat!) . Owing to some health issues and increasingly frailty she is not able to do as much these days and looks forward to welcoming a kind and gentle, clean and tidy person into her home.

The Householder attends a monthly book club, lunch club and is her church is very important to her. She enjoys listening to quiet music, mainly Classic FM. Having been a keen knitter all her life she has now lost the dexterity needed to do this and misses knitting very much.

Supported by daily care visits at lunchtimes and weekly help from a cleaner, the main requirement of the Homeshare arrangement is company, conversation, enjoying different viewpoints, and knowing that someone will be in the house overnight.

The Householder had had lodgers in the past and enjoys the feeling that there is someone around (not necessarily all the time), someone coming and going. She is used to sharing her space and aware of the need to strike a good balance of time together and each doing their own thing. Some time together at weekends would be appreciated, whilst understanding that the Sharer would be likely to be out and about and away some weekends too.

The Householder may appreciate help with bits of shopping from time to time and, if someone had a car, the odd trip out or even lifts to appointment could be a bonus. Help, in small ways, to maintain a tidy, clean house would be welcome. Reminders that, for example, Wednesday is dustbin day, and the bins need to go out would be helpful, when needed.

This Homeshare would suit someone kind and gentle with a happy personality, who would appreciate interesting conversation and, importantly, someone who likes cats! A clean and tidy person would be welcome.

The small, terraced house is located off the Marston Road, within easy walking distance of the John Radcliffe Hospital and Brookes University and Oxford’s wonderful University Parks. The bedroom is small-ish and the bathroom shared.

The Householder is fully vaccinated and sensibly cautious. The Sharer should also be fully vaccinated, and willing to take precautions to avoid exposure to the virus and adhere to COVID regulations.
