Double-room in period cottage with garden & stream

Hello all,

I am a 30-year-old qualified History teacher and cricket coach currently living on my own in an old Cotswold cottage with a beautiful garden and little stream. I’ve lived here all my life and have just recently returned home, and it would be great to find another person to share the house with for the foreseeable future. I also hope to go travelling from September onwards for 3-6 months, so would really like to find someone who will look after the place while I’m away!

The place would suit a young professional or a postgraduate student who loves peace, beauty, quiet and nature. I meditate a lot so I really like it here (obviously!), so if you're into that sort of thing or other quiet activities like reading and studying then I think you will too. There are plenty of beautiful walks and runs here also. The house itself is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac at the end of a hamlet called Eastington, 20 minutes away from both Cirencester and Cheltenham just off the A40. Transport links are really good because of this – but as we're in a valley often you can hear nothing but the trees and the birdsong. It is a beautiful, peaceful place to be.

There is a sheltered garden shared with my neighbours (my mum and my step-dad – they’re both lovely!) who live behind the house. Rest assured they will let you have your own space and privacy as they have they own gardens to use, but they will pop up now and then to take care of the garden and keep it looking smart. If you’re into gardening and outdoor stuff then you can do it to your heart’s content!

You will have a double bedroom on the top landing of the house located on its far side, which will give you the feeling of a nice bit of seperation from the rest of the house. The shared upstairs bathroom is only two rooms away, though if you want your own bathroom you can have the one downstairs all to yourself. When living here please consider all rooms available to use – kitchen – including microwave and washing machine, living room, and study/ home gym room. There is also another small spare room that is free, so if you have a friend who wants to come and live here too then just let me know and we can have a chat about it!

Wi-Fi is fibre-optic and usually good; speed ranges from slow to typical here as I hitch mine from the parents' next door.

In terms of the village itself – everyone is really friendly and they'll be pleased to get to know you. Our closest neighbours are great - two young couples around my age have recently moved in, both very interesting and successful in their fields. They regularly pop by to chat, play chess, etc.

There is space to park one car here, or two when I’m away. Log deliveries are easily available for our inglenook fireplace.

As of early July you will be sharing the house with another tenant for at least 6 months, a 39 year old male who will be working from home living in the other double-bedroom. Silence and peace are very important for both of us, so it would be great to find someone who treasures them as equally as we do to keep the place a quiet, country haven,
