The Opportunity
Affordable accommodation with a agreement of 10 hours per week to provide practical support and companionship to an older person. This Homeshare would match you with a chatty older lady who loves singing. She is a former accomplished artist who loves listening to Radio 4 and 4 Extra. The Homesharer would preferably be a mature female, someone with an open mind and empathy, who will appreciate the Householder’s need for independence. She is allergic to cats but willing to accept a non-shedding, non-barking, well behaved dog.

The House
The cottage is located less than 5 minutes away from Stroud Hospital and Stroud Centre, with on street residential parking. This is an older property with some quirky features and a steep staircase. A double bedroom at the top of the house is available with an extra room free to use as an office or sitting room. The Householder’s family are happy to arrange this according to the Sharer’s wishes. You would have your own bathroom with bathtub on the floor below, where there is also a separate shower (the family use this when visiting).

The Homeshare Agreement
A Sharer would give 10 hours/week of their time as support/companionship in lieu of rent. This will typically involve cooking and eating meals together 5/6 times a week, preferably a cooked meal at lunch or dinner time even if prepared the day before and a cup of the tea in the morning would be appreciated. Food is extremely important and you MUST be able to cook traditional English meals (e. g. chicken pie, fish, sausage & mash). The Householder also enjoys trying out other dishes, including mild curries and other ethnic food, as long as it's tasty! Batch cooking and meal planning is encouraged, to ensure no food waste. Collecting prescriptions, helping with weekly shopping and any ad-hoc jobs would also be included.
The Homeholder is looking for reassurance of company at night time. A contribution of £75/month is required from the Sharer, to go towards Council Tax and utility bills.
No personal care needed or allowed.

This Homeshare opportunity is advertised on behalf of the Householder and she would prefer a mature Sharer. We carry out reference checks and an enhanced DBS check prior to introducing you to the Householder.
