Double room in newly refurbished Scotstoun flat

Ad ref# 15736050

Hi! I'm looking for someone to rent the second bedroom in my fully furnished first-floor flat. I'm a recent Scottish literature graduate working in retail to save money for a PhD, and would like to live with another young professional for council tax reasons. The flat is newly refurbished with clean, spacious common areas, double glazing, and plenty of cupboards for storage. It's on a relatively quiet street just 5 minutes walk from Victoria Park and about 20 minutes walk from Partick. It's just off Dumbarton Road so there are lots of buses to take you to the city centre in about 20 minutes, and Scotstounhill train station is also a 15-20 minute walk away. There's a private parking area at the back of the flat that's free to use and always has a few spaces empty. In terms of accessibility, there isn't a lift, the shower is over the bath, and some of the kitchen cupboards are quite high up (for reference, I'm five foot six and I have to use a wee folding stool to reach the top shelves), although I'd be willing to move some stuff around to make things more accessible for you if necessary.

The bedroom has a brand new IKEA mattress and desk (no desk chair yet as I'd want to buy one that suits whoever moves in, i. e. I'd get one with better back support if they were working from home). It also has a large cupboard with new mirrored sliding doors, so there's loads of storage room. I'd be happy for you to put stuff up on the walls so it's a bit less of a white box (there'll be pictures up in the living room and hall once I get round to buying frames!). I've also left half of the kitchen cupboards empty so you'd have your own space for food as well as any kitchen stuff you bring with you - although I'm happy to share my things. Additionally, there's an extra basket in the bathroom for toiletries and space for another towel on the towel rack.

The building runs on electricity only, and the flat is heated by brand new energy-efficient Fischer clay core electric heaters with wireless programmable thermostats. I've lived in flats with really dodgy old storage heaters before and these are honestly so much better, they're cheaper to run and can be programmed to start heating a room while you're out so it's nice and cozy when you come home! There's also an electric fire with Bluetooth speakers and LED colour-changing lights in the living room left by the previous owners - I'd never use it to heat the room but I'm sure it'll be fun when we're allowed to have friends over! There's BT fibre wifi which has been very fast and reliable so far. I don't currently have a TV license, just a TV to play DVDs and hook up to my laptop, however that's something I would be willing to discuss if you wanted it. I'd also be more than happy to let you use my Disney+ account for no extra charge. I've been living on my own here so far so I don't know exactly what the bills would amount to with two people, however based off the previous owners' usage I'd expect them to be around ££55-60 each per month. Council tax is ££68.34 each per month, though there'll be a 25% discount until I graduate my masters - depending on how quickly my examiner marks my thesis corrections, this will either be in June or December. The security deposit is ££340.

About me - as a literature grad I obviously love books (hence the giant bookcase of my dreams in the living room!) and like to write as well. I'm passionate about sustainability and green politics - although I've never quite managed to shift from pescatarian to vegetarian! I work in a chocolate shop so there's literally always chocolate and hot chocolate around the flat. I enjoy cooking, watching good films and awful TV shows, and trying out local cafes and pubs, and would really love to live with someone who would be up for having dinner, movie nights, and going out together. However, I do often need my own space to recharge so would also need my flatmate to respect that. I'm not a big party person but I'd like to have people over occasionally once covid restrictions allow, and I'd definitely be okay with my flatmate doing the same (I follow covid restrictions pretty closely and would like my flatmate to do so as well). I have a record player and a CD player and like to play music, but never early in the morning or late at night, and I wouldn't do it if you're working from home or just need some quiet time. I do like the flat to be pretty clean and tidy but I understand that life sometimes gets in the way! I'm bisexual (and gender non-conforming to some extent, still figuring that one out) so would need someone LGBT+ friendly. I'd be happy to rent to women and non-binary people. I haven't rented to anyone before as I only bought the flat in December but I can provide a reference from my previous flatmate of 3 years.
