Cosy double room to rent in SE1 or buddy up

The living room

Hi there 👋. We have a cosy double room available in our lovely home, although we are also considering renting a new flat around Bermondsey, as we have really enjoyed the neighborhood for the past year.

The room is of a good size, comes with a double bed with integrated storage, and a built-in wardrobe with lots of storage space. A nightstand, a chest of drawers and shelves are also provided but can be disposed of if you would rather have your own furniture. There is enough place for a desk and additional furniture.
The flat is furnished and our new flatmate/s will be signing either a 1 year lease with us or shorter (the landlords have been pretty flexible in the past). Bills are on top of the rent (internet, water, gas, council tax) and are about £85 per month per person on average (depending on the time of year of course).
The flat is carpeted throughout except in the kitchen and the bathroom.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with a gas stove, oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine and a lot of storage space. The bathroom is shared and has a bathtub and an overhead shower.
The living room which is quite a nice and generous living space that overlooks the park across the road.

About Us
We are a French couple aged 30 (Assya) and 27 (Mathieu) who has been living in London for a year. We are both absolute book lovers, and while Assya has a passion for English literature and women writers such as Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell and many more, I am more into Sci-Fi and Fantasy. We do share a huge interest on essays about social justice issues. We also love the occasional Netflix binging session.
We are not party people but we used to enjoy the odd night out to a nice restaurant or to the pub .
We would love to have a talk with you around a cup of tea and some cake, share a meal (we both love to cook) or have a movie night now and then.

About Assya
In the past she trained in the hopes of becoming a professional dancer, she later got her Bachelor’s in English literature and a Master’s in book publishing. She is now figuring out where her path will take her. She has been vegan for close to a year and has, thanks to it, rediscovered the joy of cooking. As a vegan cliché, she also enjoys yoga. =)

The neighborhood
Across the road there is a lovely park with exercise equipment and a running track. Bermondsey St is the go to for really great cafes, bars, and restaurants. There is a local independent cinema a 5 minute walk away that does 2 for 1 Tuesdays. There's also the Bermondsey Beer mile, and Maltby St Market around the corner. It's a short walk to the river/Tower Bridge/Borough Markets. There are free local tennis courts in 2 of the nearby parks. And if you're a Southwark resident you get free Gym and Swim at the local gyms.

Shopping
- 5 mins walk away: a fruit and vegetable shop, two bakeries, a cheesemonger, 2 Sainsbury's Local, a Tesco Express
- 10 mins walk away: a Tesco. An independent organic shop, Zest Organic, 11 mins away where you can find lots of vegetarian and vegan products, asian products and a refill station for cleaning supplies.
- 6 mins away in bus: an ASDA
- 25 mins away in bus: a Morrisons and an independant zero waste shop, Gather.

Transports
Directly outside the flat there is a number 1 and 78 bus that leads to the city, Shoreditch, Peckham etc. Bus stop is Spa road.
Bermondsey tube (Jubilee Line, Zone 2) is a 12 min walk away and London Bridge/Borough (Jubilee Line & Northern Line, Zone 1) about 20 minutes walk.
