Hello, my name is Claire, I’m a 31yo Australian professional. My housemate is sadly moving out in mid-April, but I absolutely love the flat so want to stay on. It’s in a gorgeous square with a little garden opposite, within a minute walk of Upper St but far enough away that it is very cosy and quiet. Only 5 minutes’ walk to Highbury & Islington station, with both the Victoria line and the Overground, and about 15-20 minutes’ walk to Angel station on the Northern line. There are some delightful pubs (e. g. Canonbury Tavern, the Smokehouse) within about a minute, as well as a number of supermarkets and cafes, and Highbury Fields is also really close, so it’s really a great place to live. Feels like a little neighbourhood in the heart of London.
The room itself is large and well-lit, with built in storage (a wardrobe and some smaller cupboards with shelving). The room is otherwise unfurnished, although the rest of the flat is furnished (although in the market for a new couch!). The flat has two bedrooms (including mine), with a separate living room and big kitchen, and a cute little courtyard out the back. There is a shared bathroom. Rent is £996.67 each month, and bills come to about £184 each per month (including council tax, internet, energy, water and a cleaner). There is room to bring e. g. kitchen items if you have them, and open to discussions about other furniture of course. It's available from 6 April, although our new lease ticks over on 20 April so there is flexibility on move in date up till then.
About me – as mentioned, I’m Australian, I moved to London about 18 months ago and have been living in the flat for 12 months. I work at KPMG at Canary Wharf, and during the week (work permitting) I like to play netball, go for a run, cook, catch up with friends, or just have some downtime on the couch at home. Same for the weekends – this is definitely not a party house, we like to treat it as a little haven to recharge from busy London life (e. g. by watching replays of Grey’s Anatomy…) I’m really neat and clean, friendly and up for a chat over dinner after work, but also respectful of space and downtime.
If this sounds like somewhere you’d like to call home, please send me a message telling me a bit about yourself!
Thanks for reading,
Claire
