Hello,
It's the absolute worst time for it, but we're currently looking trying to fill the big room in our spacious flat on Somerford Grove, Dalston, as our lovely housemate Ben is moving to the US to be a hot shot music producer (as soon as the travel ban is lifted, obviously!)
About us:
I (Rosie, 25, cis queer white woman) am currently woefully underemployed as a result of this pandemic thing, but usually I'm a freelance journalist for Time Out London, VICE, Refinery29, Dazed etc. I like Twitter, pints, Robyn, contemporary literature, Caribou, Dalston Superstore, cooking, yoga and Guardian longreads.
Ludo (27, cis het white woman) works as a DJ and artist manager. She's Italian American and has a sixth sense for cooking pasta perfectly every time. She works from home during the day quite a lot, but is also often out working/playing at parties, or at least she will be whenever the hell we're all allowed outside again. She loves pints, stupid tv shows and music (obvs.)
About the flat:
It's pretty great. The room is a large bright double room. It comes furnished, though the bed and mattress can be removed if you have your own. The kitchen and bathroom are a decent size and the living room is massive. We just got a nice new corner sofa for it too, and we've filled it with plants like good millennials. Some of them are even alive.
This rent includes internet, utilities, a few bits for the house and our lovely cleaner who comes on Mondays to clean the communal areas. We pay all our bills along with rent on the 23rd of the month.
The building is slightly off the street, with a gate at the front so your bike is pretty safe if you leave it outside. The neighbours are all reasonably friendly and we have a building WhatsApp group for when post goes missing and stuff.
The location is just off Stoke Newington high street, about 10 minutes from Kingsland and Rectory Road overground stations and about 13 minutes from Dalsty J. The nearest bus stop is just on the main road and there are loads of 24 hour buses that stop there. We have a Coop 5 minutes away and a 24 hour off licence at the end of the road. There's also a great variety of Deliveroo options, which is important.
The deposit is £750 (we think, still checking with the estate agent, as you can imagine they're not the most responsive at the moment) and the room is available now. We're trying to fill it as soon as possible so Ben isn't paying after moving out, but obviously we're willing to be flexible given this crazy situation. We'd definitely consider couples as well as individuals as it keeps the cost of bills down for us two, and we're very queer-friendly.
Given the whole covid situ we're only able to do viewings via the internet at the moment, but if you get in touch I can send you a video I made of the flat, and perhaps we can arrange a video call for us to meet you.
I should also add: we're both currently in quarantine elsewhere, which means the flat is definitely corona-free. It also means there's a possibility you might have the place to yourself for a bit when you move in, depending on how long lockdown lasts.
If this all sounds good, please do get in touch with a bit of info about who you are and what you're into etc.
Thanks!
