Homeshare - Friern Barnet

We match older Homeowners who live alone and would like a little companionship and practical support, with younger, mature adults seeking low cost accommodation and a quiet, safe place to live. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement called a Homeshare.

Our Homeowner is a friendly 70 year old and she lives in a lovely terraced house close to excellent transport links into, and across, central London.

She is happy to share her home with a kind and mature Sharer, who in return, will provide 10 hours of practical support and friendly companionship each week, and the reassurance to the Homeowner and her family of having someone else in the home.

This Homeowner enjoys a fairly active life, playing indoor tennis weekly, and going to regular art and occasional dancing classes, however she received an early dementia diagnosis around six months ago which has affected her confidence a little, and she is less keen to go out so much alone.

The support you are asked to provide may include going out for walks together, accompanying her to appointments, and on other outings; It will also include some light housework and making and sharing some meals together. No personal care is permitted.

The accommodation on offer is a small and cosy double room, with a chest of drawers, wardrobe, private shower room and use of the home’s other facilities.

This opportunity would suit you if you are a mature student or if you are employed but able to work flexibly and be around sometimes during the day.

Homeshare Service fee (cost to you) - £199 per month. You do not pay rent to the Homeowner although you may be asked to make a small contribution to household bills. You will be exempt from Council tax if you are a student.
