Beautiful house and great housemates
Our housemate Andrea is leaving to move in with some friends and so we have a double room up for grabs.. Here's a bit of info about it, and please do get in touch with any questions
The bedroom is on the top floor at the back of the house, looking out onto other gardens so it’s really quiet. It has a huge bright window and comes with a bed (with lots of storage space underneath) and built in shelving. The rest of the furniture in the pictures isn't included but I'd be open to selling the clothes rail.
It's a period three bed house with lots of charm. The kitchen and living room are on the ground floor, one bedroom and bathroom upstairs, and two more bedrooms on the top floor. The landlord has done quite a bit of work on the house in the time we've been here, including redoing the bathroom, repainting, putting in a new kitchen and adding new flooring downstairs. But the best bit is the very sunny and private garden, that we've been enjoying improving (inexpertly) a bit more each summer.
Most importantly though are the people! We all met through spare room and I can genuinely say I am delighted we did, as have made two really great friends. We all have our own social lives, but rarely hide away in our rooms when we're in. It's a sociable house - we all tend to chill out in the living room together and it's not unusual for a friend/sibling or two to come over for dinner. We have bbqs in the garden that we all invite our friends to, especially after the Lambeth Country Show, which is just across the road.
We all work 9-5 jobs, do a bit of exercise (not as much as we talk about doing!), enjoy drinking wine on the sofa, and generally try to make the most of London.
Holly is a 32 year old radio producer originally from Cambridgeshire who moved in earlier this year. Emily is 33 and has lived in the house for almost 8 years! Although we've only lived together a short while we socialise together a lot - whether it's pizza and a film in the living room, a night out at the pub or a dip in the lido after work.
Herne Hill is just great.
The house is 30 seconds walk to the train station (10 mins to Victoria, or 15 mins to Blackfriars on the Thameslink. Also links to St Pancras, Farringdon and Elephant and Castle), buses at the end of the road to Brixton, Peckham, Denmark Hill, Crystal Palace and lots of other places. It's also just 15 mins walk to Brixton, but there's plenty locally too, including several nice pubs, beautiful Brockwell Park with the lido at the end of the road, and a fantastic market just a few metres away on Sundays.
The boring stuff
Rent is £710 each month and we each put around £85 into the bills account every month (plus a little bit more for the fortnightly cleaner). The rent is paid on 13th of each month. Move in date will be 1st February 2020 (with flexibility to potentially move in earlier) and rent will be pro rated accordingly.
If you're looking for a friendly and homely place to live in the area please give me a shout, with a bit of info about yourself and an idea of when you would be free to come take a look.
Please note: if you have been in your job for less than 6 months, the agency require you to either pay 6 months rent up front, or have a UK property owner sign as guarantor.
