About the flat 🚪🔑
Looking for one long-term flatmate to join me in a light and spacious two-bed flat in the famous art-deco Dorchester Court. The room comes unfurnished and is spacious enough to have a small desk. The living room, kitchen and bathroom (gorgeous bathtub) are large and get loads of light. We’ve got a cosy (west-facing) balcony and the court has a great communal garden and BBQ area (with loads of communal bbqs we can use). The flat is on the ground floor, it’s very well connected, in a quiet and peaceful area but close to many restaurants and other amenities. We’re 10 mins walk away from Herne Hill station, Dulwich and Camberwell. Brixton is only 20 mins walk. The lovely Ruskin park is only 5min away and Brockwell park 10min away. The rent for the whole flat is £1473, so you’d be paying £720 and I’d be paying £750 (as my room is bigger) plus bills (which is around £66 each + council tax if you're not a student). To get you into the contract you’d have to pay £25 (half of the £50 agency fee) and a deposit of £850. The contract goes until November 2023 (with the possibility of extending it) and you’d need to go through reference checks with the agency.

I'm a Brazilian, mixed-raced, queer, cis woman in my 30s - who has been living in London for the past 10 years. I work full-time as a researcher (mostly from my room) and am also finishing my PhD (both in the area of violence against women). In my free time, I like playing basketball, cycling, cooking, looking after my plants, doing yoga, meditating, watching movies, and going to dance parties. I’m recovering from fibromyalgia and CFS, and whilst I have learned how to manage my symptoms quite well and practice regular exercise, I do tend to need a lot of rest and good nights of sleep. I am generally quiet, extremely clean and tidy, friendly and like socialising but also enjoy spending time alone and am very respectful of people’s boundaries.
I like cooking and would be up for sharing meals from time to time (though no pressure on either side). I also invite a few friends over for dinner or movie nights (I’ve got a projector that we can both use) sometimes, though I would communicate this beforehand and would also like you to do the same.
About you 😀
I’m preferably looking for a woman or non-binary person (in their 30s or late 20s) who wants to make this place home. You can be a student or a professional but it would be better if you don’t work from home full-time. You need to be very clean and tidy, and by that I mean: committing to a weekly cleaning rota, cleaning your dishes subsequently after eating (literally no dishes left in the sink), wiping kitchen surfaces after using them, and not leaving your personal belongings around shared spaces. The way I’m respectful in how I use shared spaces is by leaving it nice and clean for the other person to use so I’d expect the same from you. It’s important that we get along, have good communication, respect each other’s boundaries, and privacy and can negotiate the use of shared spaces.
