Hello! I'm sadly moving out of this lovely house at the end of August.
That means my spacious, double, top floor room is now available for rent for a great price: £750 per month excluding bills.
The room comes with a built in wardrobe and a beautiful wooden sash window overlooking the London skyline to the right, red roofed houses ahead, and a pretty church spire to the left.
There is no other furniture in the room, so you can bring your own, or I'm happy to negotiate a price to leave the bed and/or mattress for you to keep.
You would share the top floor with the bathroom only (used by one other housemate), making it particularly private and quiet. It has a bath with shower, toilet and sink, as well as good storage.
The rest of the three story Victorian house feels huge yet homely - a spacious living room and dining room, a large kitchen diner, and then bi-fold glass doors out into the garden, with a wooden terrace and grass area - perfect for BBQs in the summer. So plenty of communal space.
You would share the house with three others - all friendly professionals - Holly, Rebecca and Anne. Holly works in government, Rebecca for the NHS, and Anne for a research consultancy. Only Anne works from home consistently, a few days a week, but from her bedroom - which tends to mean the rest of the house is free, should you need even more space to work from home.
We're a friendly group, sometimes sharing dinner, watching tv, a glass of wine, and a good chat. But equally, we all have our own lives/friends, and it's fairly easy to go a few days without seeing anyone if that's your preference, given how large the house is. Holly and Anne are keen gardeners, which is always good come summer (I was terrible - plants die on my watch). We keep the place tidy, but have a cleaner every fortnight, and use an app to keep up to date with bills (alarm, energy, council tax, internet, cleaning) splitting the cost each month. Like everyone, our energy bills are on the rise, but for now all our bills combined tends to even out around £150/month.
Herne hill is brilliant! There's great bars, pubs, shops, coffee and a market on Sunday. Not to mention Brockwell Park. It's on the Thameslink train and Victoria trainline, a bus from Denmark hill Overground (orange line), and a 15-20 minute stroll to Tulse Hill, with connections to London Bridge. A leisurely 30 minute walk, or a quick bus ride, will see you in Brixton with all it has to offer - plus the handy Victoria line tube.
We're looking for a housemate who is working (either in the office or at home), is tidy and respectful, and would be open to keeping our home a happy and harmonious place to live.
As I'm moving out, I can be flexible on date. The room can be available as early as now, or from end of August at the very latest (when I am due to complete on my new house) and we are looking for a long term tenant. However, the contract allows you to leave whenever you want, as long as you can fill your room. So pretty easy all round.
If this sounds like the room/house for you, get in touch asap to avoid disappointment!
