Large quiet double room is available overlooking south facing garden in Highgate flat-share. Seeking an easy-going flatmate to share what this amazing area has to offer. The room has matching IKEA furniture, Netflix TV and a Kingsize pine bed. There is plenty of spare storage space in the house which has London’s fastest fibre VirginMedia BB.

Location

The Victorian house is located in a residential area opposite Highgate Wood. Its like country living but with quick access to the city. Highgate has a real village community, all year street festivals and is one of the SAFEST areas of London. It’s surrounded by 5 natural parks and has a vibrant cafe-culture and great indie boutique shopping.


Flatmates & Interests

The other flatmates work in the charity sector and medical research. We are looking for someone easy going and tidy but we are not OCD ! We enjoy the usual relaxing while watching Netflix or trashy TV or hanging in Muswell Hill, the Woodman or Boogaloo when Covid allows. Its not a party house and we do all do our own thing too.

We also roll up for wild-play, workouts in the woods opposite, cycling, running, walking, house tennis in Waterlow park. We are also into baking, live music, bowling, swimming, stand up, Camden market and lazy Sunday roasts in the local Woodman gastropub.


The flat is regularly professionally cleaned, well maintained and always warm to come back to in winter. The flat is spacious with a large American kitchen diner with big sofa, Nespresso, TV etc. Separately there is WM, digital cooker and all mod cons. There is a WC, separate bath room and full access to the rear patio garden. A roof terrace with luxury outdoor seating and dining is being installed in spring.

Transport

Highgate tube is only 5 mins walk away and 21 mins to Bank on the Northern Line. There is a marked cycle lane outside supported by 20mph traffic speed restrictions. The house is well served by buses, Camden 9 mins and the 210, 214, 269, 271, 134, 43, 234 & N20 buses are only 30 mins back from Leicester Square. The N20 night bus stops 30yds away, handy for a night out in town. An Uber is roughly £12-18 back from town. There is also local residents parking available and secure bicycle storage outside in the garden.

Local Amenities

Highgate is renown for its street markets, all year festivals and an amazing variety of indie boutique shops, cafes and tasteful nightlife. For meet-ups there are historic pubs like The Flask, or kick back to live Jazz or Rep Theatre upstairs at the Gatehouse. The Wrestlers and Woodman have an eclectic mix of ent nights. For foodies locally there is FEAST, Bills, TOFTS - winner best Fish & Chip shop in the UK and La Porcetta for proper Italian Pizza.

Refresh your Mind and Soul - Never get bored

In ‘normal times’ there are live local gigs at The Boogaloo, Jacksons Lane Community centre for Salsa, stand-up and adult evening classes. Alexandra Palace has the legendary summer water slide, amazing fireworks with a view and a beautiful theatre which has just reopened after 80yrs ! There is German Beer Oktoberfest and you can Go-Ape with the 80m zip wire followed by coffee and cake then Ice skating. There are antique and classic car fairs too. Its impossible not to come back without something unusual lol. For theatre lovers there is Rep Upstairs at the Gatehouse. There are 6 gyms with pools from £25/pm, Highgate Wood Running club, Cricket, Tennis and Squash clubs and two cinemas including the Phoenix, the oldest cinema in the UK still in continuous use, all within a short walk.

Food shopping is convenient with M&S, Sainsburys, Tesco, Budgens and Planet Organic all within easy reach and open till late with emergency 24h Costa coffee on tap 100yds away...

Highgate Wood has been used by the Romans to make pottery. There is a fascinating ghost walk in the village and Highgate cemetery is the final resting place for Karl Marx, Dickens and George Michael, amongst many other legends. Highgate also has many celeb residents.
