Double room to rent in a 4 bed house in leafy Kennington.
The room is on the second floor of the house overlooking the street, and comes furnished with a double bed, desk and wardrobe. There are windows all along the whole wall, bringing in plenty of natural light. This is a south-facing room overlooking the garden which makes it warm and sunny. The current tenant has been working from home full-time in this room.
The house has a large kitchen/living room area which extends onto the spacious, south-facing garden. We have a garden dining table set, sun loungers and a BBQ, and like to have meals outside when the weather's nice. The street is very quiet for its location, and we get on well with both sets of neighbours.
There is a family bathroom with bath/shower, primarily shared between 3 as one room has an ensuite, and also an extra toilet and sink on the ground floor. There's lots of cupboard space across the house, and we have lots of space in the garage for bikes. Our drive has two car spaces, that we rent out to help cover bills and other household fees (e. g. toilet paper and cleaning supplies).
The room is available for £740 per month all in, of which around £90 goes towards bills. So far the parking spaces have covered all bill increases. We pay the full sum into a shared account, which we use to pay for rent, council tax, utilities, and broadband.
Kennington is the perfect area to live in London. It has a great village feel with multiple pubs, parks and beautiful streets, but it's also a 20 minute walk to Big Ben or the South Bank. Public transport is great - we're a 3 minute walk from Kennington Tube on the Northern line, where it branches towards the West End or to London Bridge/Bank, and have the 59/133/159 buses at the end of the road.
We've all been living in the house for over 6 months, but we all moved in at different times via Spareroom. Our housemate is moving out to live with her boyfriend.
You'll be moving in with one woman and two man, (Emily, Jackson, and Gavin, all over 25). Gavin is Scottish and works for live-action monopoly and plays DnD, Emily is originally from Canada and works in publishing, and Jackson is a lawyer. Jackson currently works from home most days, and Emily works from home maybe once a week, so there's always someone around to collect parcels etc. Gavin works a lot of evenings and weekends. There is space in the room for a desk in the room if you needed to work from home, but we try not to have anyone taking calls in the kitchen during the day to keep it a welcoming space for anyone who is not working or wants to prepare food & do laundry during the work day.
We're a mixed household so we're open to any gender - guy, gal or non binary pal. Most importantly, we're looking for a good fit, someone who's friendly and easy going. We all enjoy getting to know each others' friends at house bbq's and are keen to cultivate a warm and sociable home together. We're looking forward to welcoming someone new to our household.
Our landlords live locally and are on hand to deal with any issues. No agents or additional fees beyond the rent and contribution to the security deposit.
Our housemate is moving out at the end of June so we expect you be able to take possession on the 1st of July.
