Private "captains quarters" on historic Barge

Ad ref# 14023855 Mon-Fri ONLY

This is a special opportunity to live aboard on a historic Dutch barge on the River Thames in central London. The original “captains cabin" is comprised of a light and airy wheelhouse, with the original crews quarters (that has been modernised). The space contains a kitchen, shower and toilet. There is a double bed in a snug raised cubby, and a small built-in sofa. There is central heating in both the wheelhouse and the main living area, and it is incredibly cozy. The occupant has exclusive access to the wheelhouse with stunning 360 views of the mooring, River Thames and Tower Bridge. Plus, access to a small outside deck. The space is completely separate to the main occupants and has a private entrance. This is only suitable for a single occupancy for a professional (occasional overnight guest with prior approval). The boat is accessed by a narrow walkway with railings and a couple of large tires, so some physical confidence is a must. You also need to have a flexible approach and sense of humour as boat dwelling is not for everyone (although very fun!) We are open to different day combinations - the price requested is based on Mon-Fri. We will also consider less days for less money. It is important to us to find the right person. We are a young professional couple with a 4 year old daughter who have been boat dwellers for over a decade. We live in the hold section of the boat, and are on hand most of the time - but the spaces are separate and each have their own kitchen/bathroom/entrance. Strictly no smokers. Internet included for an extra £20 per month.

The moorings is a gated community with award winning gardens that serve as the structure. It is a quiet oasis in a bustling city. With very close transport links to Bank, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf and London Bridge the location is excellent. There are lots of local shopping and dining options in the area. Closest tube is London Bridge, Bermondsey and Tower Bridge (all about 10-15 walk). Very close to 188, 381, 47, C10 (5 minute walk). The mooring is a delightful community and there is a book club, craft club and several opportunities for socialising. It is also quiet and private - so the best of both worlds!
