Hi! We are Debbie and Alex, a couple looking for a flatmate to sublet the second bedroom in our fully-furnished maisonette in Whitechapel/Shadwell E1.

We are in our early 30s, we are sociable people who also enjoy and respect privacy and calm relaxation. We both work professionally in the theatre: Alex is a freelance director and Debbie is an independent producer.

We are seeking a flatmate from June onwards (but we could consider sooner), who is happy with a flexible short-medium term arrangement, for 2-6 months or so, with the possibility of extension. We have been socially distancing since the beginning of lockdown and any potential flatmates must have been following the guidelines appropriately as well.

The flat is on the 1st and 2nd floors, above a commercial premises. It is a 5-10 minute walk from Shadwell Station (DLR and Overground), and a 10-15 walk to Whitechapel Station (Overground, District, Hammersmith & City Lines). There are several bus stops less than a minute away on foot, with good frequent routes East and West such as the 15, 135, and 255. Residents Parking Permits are available from Tower Hamlets, there is no parking available directly outside the flat but there is Resident Parking available very nearby.

On foot we are 30 seconds away from a Sainsbury's Local, 1 minute from the famous boozer The George Pub, 5 minutes from the shops and fresh fruit & vegetable stalls of Watney Market, and the Thames Path is about 15 minutes away -- ideal for riverside walks and runs. The vibrant areas of Stepney, Aldgate East, Spitalfields, Bethnal Green and Shoreditch are all conveniently accessible by foot, bike, or bus.

The flat was completely refurbished in September 2018, and it is still in very good condition. On the first floor, we have a clean, bright, well-equipped shared kitchen/dining/living space featuring oak flooring. There is also a guest loo and a shared bathroom on this floor.

We have 2 terraces/balconies, with wooden decking, one South-facing and one North-facing. The South terrace is great for doing yoga and reading in the sun; the North terrace we mainly use for storing bikes and cooking on the George Foreman Grill. During lockdown we have begun a little collection of plants, to enhance the outside spaces with some greenery and uplifting colour.

Upstairs on the second floor are the two bedrooms, ours is North-facing and the other, available room is South-facing. The available room, which is flooded with natural light, has bookshelves above the bed headboard, and two Ikea wardrobes. You will see that we are currently using it as a study, but we will of course remove all furniture except the wardrobes and get a new double bed well in advance of anyone moving in! The bedrooms have carpets and there are also carpets on the stairs and hallways/landings.

The cost of the room is £885 per month, not including bills. We will of course provide a detailed breakdown of bills on request.
