Looking for a light, book-filled North London sanctuary from which to explore the city? Search no more...
I'm Rachel and this flat has been my home for four years. My flatmate is sadly heading south and I'm looking for someone who likes a welcoming and calm home environment, is open to sharing some meals and generally friendly and respectful. Creative and outdoor pursuits welcome!
The flat
Only one road up from the bustle of West End Lane, peaceful Honeybourne Road is one of the best streets* in London with its red brick Victorian mansion flats and unique pink pavements. The flat is on the top floor, so features views across rooftops to the west, up towards Hampstead village in the east and you can see the City from the kitchen sink (and the London eye from the study if you lean out the window slightly).
It comprises two bedrooms, a separate lounge and a study. Each room has its own (non-functional, but pretty) fireplace. The lounge has a large window-seat for reading a book while soaking up the afternoon sun. The bathroom is shared, with a bath/shower and loo.
The study is a shared workspace off the kitchen.
There is a communal garden on the ground floor which contains a bike shed (£35 per year to store your bike).
Hampstead Heath is only 20-30 minutes' walk (or a 10-15 minute run) from the flat.
West Hampstead tube (Jubilee Line) and Overground are a 10 minute walk away and the Thameslink is a 7 minute walk. The Metropolitan line is one stop away at Finchley Road (or a 20 minute walk). Hampstead Heath tube (Northern Line) is a 20 minute walk.
*a bold claim with solid foundations (unlike the building, which apparently has none... 19th century building standards!)
Bills
Monthly expenses (council tax, water, electricity and wifi) come to £220pm. Cleaning is usually £51 per month (we have a cleaner who comes every two weeks).
To note: There is a £50 contract fee to be paid to Foxtons, the agent.
The bills include the current provider's best estimate of next year's energy bills, but the actual amount might vary.
About me
Having spent my whole life in South Africa, I've been living in London for six years. I work for the civil service (in the office 3-4 days per week, WFH 1-2 days). I enjoy running on the Heath a few times per week, and swimming in the ponds in summer. I read a lot and will be beginning a part-time masters in creative writing from September. I love to cook, particularly for other people, so enjoy hosting friends and family.
