Large and comfortable room within a quiet shared house with its own kitchenette providing tea coffee and light cooking facilities, microwave, single burner induction cooker, small pans, toaster and water boiler. There is also a small fridge/freezer (The house is occupied by vegetarians/vegans, meat and fish are not allowed in the kitchen, organic/free range eggs, milk and cheeses are permitted).
The bed is an Ikea extendable type, when extended it becomes king size. The two mattresses can be stacked and the bottom drawer pushed back to reduce the bed to sofa or single size bed allowing extra floor space if needed. The exclusive shower-room/toilet is just off the room by the main entrance door, making the accommodation very independent.
The room is on the ground floor within a 3 bedroom shared house, the 2 permanent lodgers have bedrooms on the first floor and use their own upstairs bathroom and ground floor main kitchen. They have access to the house through the back door. The shared broadband is limited to 100 GB, which is more than enough for most users, but not suitable for extremely intense and heavy usage.
The room, as the rest of the house, has been newly refurbished, a considerate use is expected. Rules in brief: NO PARTIES, NO NOISE/NO COOKING AFTER 10PM, NO SMOKING IN THE ROOM, NO GUESTS WITHOUT PERMISSION, SHOES OFF.
The site of the house is in a very convenient location within Leith, a few minutes walk from The Shore with its lovely restaurants and bars on the river side. The Ocean Terminal, boasting a multi screen cinema, galleries, restaurant, bars is 5-6min walk away, and it gives access to one of the greatest tourist attractions in Scotland, the Royal Britannia. The historical Port of Leith and Newhaven’s light house with its renowned restaurants are within a short stroll. Nearby there are green walking/cycling paths to the city centre and many other locations i. e. Portobello Beach, the beautiful Dean Village, Stockbridge, the Gallery of Modern Art, etc. Walking to the city centre takes between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the path taken, destination and of course, the foot speed! There is a Just Eat bicycle hire station at the Ocean Terminal.
Several bus lines to the city centre stop very near. From Ocean Terminal there is also the 200 bus which takes to and from Edinburgh Airport.
