Large double room available in 5 bed Victorian house in Roath, Cardiff.

The house:

Beautiful Victorian house in lovely part of Roath, Cardiff. The house has been recently refurbished with a new kitchen and bathrooms. There are lots of original period features throughout including fireplaces in every room, mosaic tiled flooring, original Welsh dresser, stained glass windows, coving, picture and furniture rails.

Downstairs there is a good sized front living room and a separate dining room. There is a large kitchen with dishwasher, 2 fridges, ample storage and a lovely Bristol sink. The kitchen opens on to a second living space with a sofa, armchairs, TV and log burner. At the back of the house there is a new shower room and conservatory/utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The house has 5 bedrooms (4 on first floor, 1 attic room). Two bedrooms are occupied by the current housemates, one bedroom is used as a study and the attic room is used as a spare room when we have friends/family to stay.

We are looking for another housemate to fill the 5th room. It’s a very large room with a queen sized bed, lovely sash windows, high ceilings, original fireplace and can be furnished or unfurnished.

Housemates will share the cost of utility bills, council tax and a fortnightly cleaner. The combined cost of all bills varies between £150 to £200 per month, depending on the season.

Local area:

5 minute walk from the stunning Roath Park. The nearby lake and open spaces are great for picnics and sports. The house is a 20 minute walk to the city centre and a 5 minute walk to Wellfield Road with all its bars, cafes, restauants and supermarkets. There are several bus stops minutes from the house and free on-street parking.

Current housemates:

Alex is a Social Worker in Caerphilly and Martin is completing his post-graduate research at Cardiff University. We are good friends and often cook together and typically share all our food etc.

What we’re looking for:

This house would suit a non-smoking professional or postgrad/mature student who is sociable and looking for a home rather than just a place to live. The room is available from the start of April.
