Quiet, tidy and peaceful.
East Dulwich (and particularly Dulwich Village) is an attractive suburban corner of Southwark. It has very good bus and train links with central London, but is far enough out to feel that you have escaped from the crush of the city centre.
Very close to the Central London but still relatively good value for money compare to North London, Clapham and other "popular" areas... Secret gem of London!
In East Dulwich there is a sense of calm and optimism that is quite special. At its centre there's a pleasant 'high street' (Lordship Lane) with adequate choice of essential shops, delicatessens, gifts shops (one eco), restaurants and specialist foods but this is 'small town' not 'busy city'. On its fringes there are two great parks (Peckham Rye and Dulwich Park) both well maintained with good open spaces and park Cafe. A small 'foods and goods' market operates on Saturdays and there's enough local nightlife to satisfy most people. Good train services from East Dulwich rail station but an excellent Overground service from Honor Oak Park (15min walk South over the hill from Peckham Rye park) makes that end of town a hidden gem. Close and far enough from vibrant Peckham itself, this is a great place to live.
East Dulwich figured in the Standard recently as the place to be in SE London. Multicultural, friendly, unpretentious, great pubs and eateries. 10 minutes by train to London Bridge. Dulwich Picture Gallery, Horniman Museum, Dulwich and Peckham Rye parks (where Blake saw his angels...) You'll never leave!
East Dulwich is brimming with lovely shops, bars, pubs and restaurants. There are two local cinemas, The East Dulwich Picture House and The Peckham Plex. It's a great place to live.
The are two beautful local parks a short walk from the flat - Peckham Rye and Dulwich Park.
Excellent transport seconds from the flat, with buses and nearby well connected train stations to mainline and overground stations.
