If you want to be minutes from London life yet don't want to live in the middle of it, then Herne Hill is a great place to live. There are 5 really good pubs within 5 mins walk of the station, some great restaurants too. Brockwell Park with its views over the whole city and world famous Lido is an even shorter walk away and the over-land trains get you into Victoria in 10 mins and Farringdon in 15 making it superbly connected. Britxon is a 5 min bus ride away so you still get the odd Brixtonite moment (which some people love, others hate) but on the whole, Herne Hill is commutersville without the suburban naffness and is so well connected that you'll wonder why you didn't move there sooner.
Once you're living here, you won't want to leave!!
Zone 2 but very green, with large park. Excellent train and bus connections. A village feel. Relaxed and easy.
Love Herne Hill. I've been here 12+ years and don't ever want to leave. Community is not a selected description, but everyone mucks in and it's like a big family. Move in... now!
