Elegant room in a beautiful house in Wrecclesham

Ad ref# 16118331

Housemate wanted, to come and share with the existing female owner and one single male lodger in a gorgeous property with a large garden, right on the River Wey, in Farnham, Surrey, from 1st June onwards.

The house is between Farnham and Wrecclesham - easy walking or cycling distance to the station, town and bus routes.

The room is a very large elegant furnished double room, with a large bathroom for exclusive use, in what is a private section of the house, and lots of space to relax or work in. There's a gorgeous garden, and it's a 15 minute walk to Farnham.

It would suit a single professional person or a couple who specifically want to live with other people.

The rent is £800 pcm, all bills included.

Our profiles

The owner is self-employed, female and in her fifties. She aims to share the house for the foreseeable future, with emotionally intelligent, companionable people, with similar values, likely to be aged between 35 and 60. She works from home and assumes that others may need to do so as well.

There is a male lodger who is 61, and from Bolivia who speaks English fluently. He works as a technical engineering assistant in a local wholesale operation and is quiet, creative and respectful.

The landlady is straight, self-aware, stable, candid, insightful, warm, lively, intelligent, and an atheist. She runs a charity and is a lawyer working on adults' social services law. She is an experienced and relaxed landlady, with happy tenants a clear priority. She's not, personally, herself, into any of the following activities or worldviews: sport, organised religion, alternative healing, party politics, narcissism, conspiracy theories, conspicuous consumption or unrestrained neediness.

She is a normal busy person with wide-ranging concerns regarding society, social care, work and family, and a sense of humour, just looking for like-minded others.

Both occupants are double vaccinated, boosted and have had Covid already.

Your profile

You might be male or female. You might be a professional person, or doing something creative or practical; you might be retired or still working. You might be a couple but with one car only, or else that's too much pressure with regards to parking. There are no pre-conceptions about your profile, really, because it would be the mix of our individual personalities that would determine whether we could all hit it off. The relationship between our interests, genders, security of your financial situation and the timing of your need for accommodation in March, all need to work together, but the owner has an open mind.

People who are under 35 may not find the culture in the house lively enough, we suspect? It's a working household, not a party setting...

People who have sustained SERIOUS damage from life’s trials, or with current addiction issues related to alcohol, Tinder, online gambling, over-eating or compulsive lying should pass this one by, please - we are looking for a peaceful time and no dramas.

People are welcome to have children / other relatives / live out partners VISIT from time to time by arrangement. But this is not a setting for anyone with a young family living WITH them, however urgent your situation. There is a river to fall into!

If you have a pet, it would need NOT to be a cat or a dog. Other creatures are considered, if in a tank, cage or hutch!

Household expectations

The only requirement is that you understand the need to clean up after yourself after using the kitchen, and keep your own bathroom clean. There is a fridge for each room occupant. If you can't do without smoking, it would have to be ONLY outside. You need to be financially reliable from month to month - this does not exclude benefits claimants but the rent is above HB reference rate levels.

You would probably be actually interested in contributing to the concept of 'a household' feel, so not always reclusive in the evenings - and come with positive references from a previous landlord or a group of sharers.

Any car, if you have one, needs to be smallish, as the parking is reliable but not unlimited.

The house is up a pot-holed road but the destination is worth it. There's room to put a bike in the shed.
