Bermondsey
-
Bermondsey street is definately up and coming, with The Shard being developed the area is only going to get more vibrant.
-
Bermondsey is a very nice area of London, zone 1 near a lot of popular places like Tower and London bridges, the Tower Of London and the London Dungeons, the people are very friendly the underground stations and all bus routes are in Bermondsey, and you can get to the centre of London in minutes. A practical and convenient area to stay.
-
A little off the beaten track but an awesome place to live with fantastic transport links.
-
Close to Thames, quick transport links etc
Borough
-
London Bridge - 7 mins walk. Borough Station - 3 mins walk. Elephant & Castle (with Tesco) - 3 mins walk
-
Ideal for a city boy/girl.
-
Borough is a lovely little area, we have London Bridge train station and Elephant and Castle train station in walking distance ... Borough Market and very close to South Bank.
Elephant and Castle
-
Elephant & Castle is a fun place very central and connected to all of London. Great place to visit, near to the river, Covent Garden and Soho and the best thing it's affordable.
-
Great for Transport. Best location south of the river. Check out Walworth Road for good shopping.
-
Elephant & Castle is in the middle of a regeneration that is bringing a modern feel to the area.

I love this area
Lambeth North
-
Lambeth North has really good transport links. It is really close to places like the southbank and you can walk to Covent Garden in 20 mins. It has a police station so you feel really safe. There are a couple of really good pubs and restaurants.
-
What's good about Lambeth North is its central location close to the South Bank, Houses of Parliament and Waterloo Station. Transport facilities are excellent and it's only four stops to Piccadilly Circus. At the same it's a lot more affordable than areas just north of the river. Here, you are close to the Imperial War Museum, London Eye, Tate Modern, and not far from London Bridge, the City, and Borough Market. Several prestigious new hotel developments show the area is developing all the time. The area is busy during the week but quiet at weekends so you have the best of both worlds. I've lived here for 17 years and have never wanted to go anywhere else.
London Bridge
-
Easy to get to the City, the West End and the river.
Commuting via the River Boat.
Borough Market.
Trinity Square.
Bermondsey St cafes and bars.
-
London Bridge is changing. With the Shard development, more restaurants, bars and shops will be moving into the historic area. Nearby there are three markets, Borough Market, Bermondsy Market and Maltby Street Market and the restaurants around Bermondsy Street are fab. Its a quick walk into the city and a half hour walk into Covent Garden. Central, well connected, but low key thanks to the small number of late night clubs. Whats not to like?

Bermondsey Street is the new Hoxton Square
-
This area is central London (Congestion Charging Zone) near London Bridge and it is a busy working area not a suburban area! All central areas of London are within walking distance from here, but there must be 70 Bus routes, 4 Main-line railway Stations and 5 Underground Tube Stations (6 Lines) within 15 mins walk from here! New mainline rail line opening at London Bridge Station soon to increase capacity and link new areas.
-
Southbank, an amazing walk next to the river with some attractions such as Tate Modern, London Eye, Big Ben and many other. Liverpool Street and Bank for the architecture of the building and business area, Columbian Road for street markets and mall. Docklands, Greenwich, Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf, for museum and sightseeing are easy and fast to reach.
London SE1
-
People think of the south side of the Thames negatively... all the better for those of us who know better. Shhh! Keep it secret and keep them out!
-
Easy to walk to the River Thames and along the south bank by the river. eg From Tower Bridge to Southwark Bridge and London Bridge past City Hall, Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market, Clink, the Golden Hinde, the Anchor, the Globe, Millenium Bridge and beyond: a very historical and special area.
Transport links are great with buses, tube and railways. Guys Hospital, libraries, schools and leisure centres are also to be found here.
-
SE1 has Bankside, the Tate Modern and Borough Market on its' doorstep, which makes the area romantic, multicultural, posh, lively, historic & modern and so much more!!!
-
SE1, and Bermonsey in particular is fabulous: easy access to the City/West End; lovely parks; close to the River; amazing markets (Bermondsey Square/Maltby Street/Spa Terminus); friendly community...etc...
Newington
South Bank
-
The South Bank is a significant arts and entertainment district. The Southbank Centre comprises the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and The Hayward art gallery. The Royal National Theatre and BFI Southbank are located adjacent to the east, but are not part of the centre. County Hall is no longer used as the seat of London government and has been converted for use as a hotel, also housing the Sea Life London Aquarium, the London Film Museum, and is the location of the London Eye.
Part of the success of the area as a visitor attraction is attributed to the high levels of public transport access. Several main railway terminals are within walking distance of the South Bank, on both sides of the river, including Waterloo, Charing Cross, Blackfriars and London Bridge. The London Underground has stations on or near the South Bank, from west to east, at Westminster, Waterloo, Embankment, Blackfriars, Southwark, London Bridge, Monument and Tower Hill. Accessibility to the north bank is high with connections made, from west to east, over the Westminster, Golden Jubilee, Waterloo, Blackfriars, Southwark, London and Tower bridges. The river is utilised as a means of transport with piers along the South Bank at the London Eye, Royal Festival Hall, Bankside and London Bridge.
Safe and by the Thames with all kinds of entertainment on your doorstep.
-
Good for nightlife, eating out, shopping, safe, picturesque. Walk to Big Ben, Westminster, London Eye, West End, Covent Garden, China Town.
-
Amazing area: little cafes, pubs, independent shops, theatres, parks, quiz nights, live music and the Southbank all in a few minutes walk.
-
Centred around the Royal National Theatre, Festival Hall and Hayward Gallery this riverside area of central London attracts lively crowds every evening and weekends.
-
Don't be afraid of being south of the Thames - this area is still central and close to everything!
Waterloo
-
Very central, south of the river, walk to Covent Garden in 20 mins. It's fairly safe and very busy on the weekends. Very good transport.
-
Waterloo is a fantastic location. You're 5 minutes from the Thames, and particularly the Southbank Centre and the National Theatre. You're also 30 min walk to Victoria or Trafalgar Sq and really close to the West End. The transport connections are amazing (including loads of 24 hr/night buses). There are also a few really nice residential neighbourhoods - Pearman and Roupell Streets are particularly lovely. There are also great little high streets - Lower Marsh has a little market on weekdays and The Cut has the Old Vic and the Young Vic.
-
Waterloo is a wonderfully central neighbourhood, close to Westminster and the West End, Southwark and London bridge so ideal for anyone who works in those areas. While it's too close in to have the feeling of a distinct neighbourhood, like Camden or Hoxton do, there are some great shops, restaurants and bars around on streets like Lower Marsh. It's also pretty safe and easy to get home to from a night out.
-
The best area ever
Westminster Bridge
-
This area is wonderful. It offers tremendous access to public transport, including Waterloo Station in under a 5 minute walk, and the Bakerloo Line less than a minute's walk away.
On top of that, it's very short walk to all of London's historic sites.
If you're looking for a great place in the heart of the world's greatest city - this is it!
