The area of Charlton (part of the Greenwich borough) I live in is just over the boundary of Blackheath, although not quite as pricey. I am a short walk from the train station (c.8 trains per hour in to central London), a quick bus journey to the tube station (North Greenwich ? Jubilee) and also a short walk from many shops Sainsburys, Asda, Boots, TK Maxx, M&S, Argos, plus many more. In terms of facilities, the O2 is walking distance (or a short bus ride), as are Blackheath and Greenwich plus the beautiful parks and facilities they offer. Charlton Park is also just down the road with a beautiful estate house and gardens for walking/running and even a free outdoor gym. There is also a good sense of community with a local residents association who organise social events, BBQs and wine tasting evenings amongst other things. The houses in my area are pretty much Victorian with front and back gardens and fronting tree lined streets. Not many of them have been converted to flats thus you don?t feel claustrophobic with too many people on top of each other ? the other benefit is the ability to be able to park without problems!
