Richmond
-
Richmond has the best of both worlds as it feels like the country AND the city all rolled in to one. Convenient for getting in to town and out of town. Huge parks, small parks as well as having a large 'village green' in the centre of the town. Lovely river front with lots of pubs and places to eat. Steeped in history and lots of cultural stuff happening; 2 well known theatres, a highly regarded comedy club and venues for live music, poets and storytellers. Lots of well known actors and celebrities have settled in the area and you get to see them out and about. We have a "Whole foods' and a farmers market and lots of great places to eat and drink. The town itself sits adjacent to Kew Gardens and Kew village is just a short walk away. Petersham village is also just a short walk away along the river and so is Marble Hill House and Park. It costs quite a lot to live in Richmond but it does provide a great quality of life and it feels very safe compared to other districts in London. The down side is that it's not very cosmopolitan and no bars stay open beyond midnight.
