Aldgate
-
Awesome. Close enough to the City/ central London to walk; fantastic bars, restaurants and hipster hangouts; but quiet residential streets.
Aldgate East
-
Living in between Liverpool Street and Aldgate you have EVERYTHING on your doorstep from bars to shopping...A mini west end but better!!
-
Aldgate East is a great place to live, Brick lane is just a few minutes walk north, Tower Bridge and St Katherine's Dock just ten minutes south. Great connections to airports, train stations, shop, pubs, whatever you want!
-
Very friendly and good for eating and shopping, a quiet area near central London.
-
Aldgate east allows you to be close from everything you may need: from clubs to restaurants, supermarkets, bars, tube station, bus and night bus, and the best is, you can easily access the rest of the city. By the way, dont miss the fabulous markets: Spitalfields during the week and Brick Lane market on sundays!
-
Only 10 mins walk to: Spitafields, Brick Lane, River Thames, St Katherine Docks, Wapping,, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, City, Liverpool St, DLR, South of the River.
-
2 mins from Aldgate East tube, 5 from Aldgate & Liverpool street walking distance. 5 mins from Bricklane and close to Shoreditch. Just off Petticoat Lane. The area is well-connected in every shape and form!
-
Perfect for universities in East and Central London
Brick Lane
-
5 minutes walk to Brick Lane and White Chapel, 10 minutes to Liverpool Street
-
Close to Old Spitalfields, Columbia Road Flower market and Brick Lane Sunday market. Lots of restaurants and pubs/bars.

Trendy!
-
A lovely area!
-
It has many good points - there are many markets not too far away, some within walking distance. There is night life at Aldgate East, Brick Lane all parties catered for, many nice restaurants especially a curry if you're partial. You can get a bus or train to most places, even the new shopping centre at Stratford. Area regenerated for the Olympics.
-
As I walk out of my front door in Aldgate East I?m hit with the chaos of the city. The busy roads, beautiful smells of food and the bustle of people walking around which continues long into the early hours of the morning. I love this area. It?s central, cultural and within a few minutes walk from your front door you?ll be able to find quirky bars, great places to eat and galleries. Transport links are great and due to the fact it is always busy and well lit I always feel safe wandering around. Perfect!

London E1 is not just another residential part of London, to start there are more galleries here today than there were in Florence during the renaissance as well as being home to the new Whitechapel gallery. The area is filled with young people working in studios and workshops facilitating the new fashions, designs, art and young businesses of London. New bars, clubs and pop up events turn up all the time, it's buzzing with young and mature people who need to live and work in central London. Multi cultural, exciting and definitely cosmopolitan. Sunday markets of Brick lane and Spitalfields are filled with up and coming designers selling their products, as well as fab vintage shops and amazing foods from around the world, the old Flower market of Columbia Road is full of fresh flowers as well as boutique shops and if you're not buying there are cool pubs and bars to enjoy all over the E1 area. If you want to get your feet into London E1 is safe enough for a new comer, great 24hr transport facilities too. E1 is the trendy pulse of London! With all the buzz, sometimes in Brick Lane I think I'm in Carnaby Street in the 1960 or Portobello Road in the 90's, unfortunately both have now lost their creative London edge.
-
Lovely area, very friendly as well.
-
One of the best locations to live in London! You have everything close, markets, bars, parks, shops and stations and it is easy to go everywhere from here!
-
Great area to live - 10mins and you're in central London plus lots of hip bars, restaurants and quiet spots like parks and canal. Friendly, safe and mixed communities make the east end great.
London E1W
-
E1 offers you everything, peace & quiet when you want it, good local connections/pubs/restaurants, picturesque views, chilled atmosphere, friendly neighbours, plenty to see just a walk away from the hustle & bustle of city life & all the tourist attractions. What more could you ask for?
Shadwell
-
Close to St Katherine Docks and historical Wapping. Shadwell itself may not be synonomous with glamour, but it is located in a prime position that is within walking distance from Wapping and St Katherine Docks, as well as Tower Bridge and the Thames, Canary Wharf and the City. So its strongest selling point is very much its location, but without the cost associated with living in such places as it's close to.
-
Shadwell may not be the most aesthetically pleasing of London's areas but it is relatively cheap for how central it is (3 mins on the DLR from Bank, 30 mins walk to Shoreditch), as well as being well connected to the rest of London by means of the DLR, Overground and buses. It has a vibrant multicultural community, a very famous pub in The George and excellent curry houses. It's also right next to Wapping meaning only around 10 minutes walk to cobbled streets and some lovely riverside pubs.
-
Very nice, safe and friendly area to live in. Location is very central, ideal if you need to travel to the city for work or just want to go out anywhere, as there is many types of local transport nearby that's not a problem. You have many different types of restaurants, pubs, clubs gyms etc.
Shoreditch
-
Shops, cafes, vintage shops, bars, Brick Lane, Hoxton street market, Spitalfields, close to City and Liverpool Street station, great atmosphere BUT its getting too expensive :(
-
Cool, happening area with cafes. bars and great vintage shops and markets.
Stepney Green
-
Stepney green is very central - just 1 tube stop out of Zone 1 with great amenities including 24 hour buses and lovely parks and the Regents Canal.
-
The heart of East london, where new ideas and fashions develop, very liveley and cultural.
-
Noisy and a bit dirty but very good transport links!
-
Great Area, Co-op for Food, Close to Tube
-
Stepney Green is a well connected area close to the City, with a few pubs/bars and a big Sainsbury's store nearby in Whitechapel 15 minutes walk.
Wapping
-
A very friendly location off the beaten track and main roads, yet very near Tower Hill and St Katharine's Dock. Highly recommended area!
-
I describe Wapping to my friends as the country side of London. It's lovely and green as there are loads of parks, it's on the river and it's only minutes from central London! Perfect!
-
A lovely neighbourhood, two minutes from the Thames river, 3 stops for Shoreditch with great markets and a very friendly atmosphere.
Whitechapel
-
Excellent place in terms of travel links and local convenience.
-
It is a good area with many transport systems there are two tubes nearby and night buses run so it is easy to get home after a night out and it means you aren't limited in where you go out.
-
best place for young people!
-
Next to Spitalfields, Shoreditch & Hackney, this area remains vibrant, arty & eclectic.
Whitechapel Art Gallery opened in 1901 to provide "art for the people". It has premiered world-class artists from modern masters such as Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Frida Kahlo to contemporaries such as Sophie Calle, Paul Noble, Thomas Struth, Sarah Lucas and Mark Wallinger.
We have historic pubs, independent coffee shops & cafes, good restaurants and cocktail bars.
The Museum of Childhood is close by and quite enchanting.
