Management Accountant

Full Time
£30,000 pa

We are currently recruiting for a full-time member of staff to join our Operations team as a Management Accountant. The role is located in the Northern Quarter of Manchester City Centre

The Role:

You will support the Finance Manager and you will have a proven track record in a similar position, a relevant qualification and experience of working in an e-commerce environment would be beneficial. We have recently expanded our operations to the US market so any knowledge of US accounts and taxation would be useful. This is a busy role and you will need the ability to hit the ground running.

Requirements:
  • Proven track record in a similar position with 3 years experience.
  • Ideally qualified or working towards a qualification or QBE within a similar role.
  • Fully competent in Xero and Excel and highly IT literate.
  • Experience of working in an e-commerce environment.
  • Working with multiple currencies, bank accounts, departments and entities.
  • Month End close process including accruals and prepayments.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation of monthly Management Accounts and P&L.
  • History of budgeting and tracking departmental spend.
  • Forecasting and variance analysis.
  • All other day to day accounts duties to maintain accurate files and enter data in a timely fashion.
  • A team player who is able to work with others and is comfortable working at both a transactional and strategic level.

We are recruiting for a full time position working between the hours of 9am and 5.30pm.

Site Moderator (Manchester)

£16,500 - plus the opportunity to earn a performance related bonus of £120 per month.

Our Site Moderation team work alongside SpareRoom's award-winning Customer Service Team who provide outstanding support to SpareRoom's 7 million registered users. Our Site Moderators are mainly responsible for moderating and approving all user generated content, scam and fraud detection and compliance issues.

You'll be part of a busy team who work hard but who have fun along the way and are renowned for excellent service. The role is varied and will involve using both in-house and well-known computer systems.

On a daily basis, you will be required to communicate directly with users of our site via email and phone. You will interact with customers to provide and process information in response to enquiries, concerns and requests about our website and services. You will also be responsible for helping to maintain the site through administrative tasks.

Responsibilities and duties:
  • To investigate and take appropriate action on reports of suspicious adverts.
  • To provide information and advice to other departments and customers in relation to scam detection.
  • To assist in developing, monitoring and implementing processes to aid scam detection and prevent future instances.
  • Maintain information records and collate data to aid future investigations.
  • Ensure advert content including photos and videos meet the terms and conditions of the website.
  • Complete individual customer verifications and tenant reference requests.
  • Assist with the completion of DPA requests from relevant authorities.
  • Communicate with site users over the phone where necessary.
  • Investigate and respond to reports received from site users via email.
Skills and experience:
  • A strong customer focus with the ability to deliver great service, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a web based company. A focus on fraud or risk investigation and resolution would be beneficial.
  • Confident and positive personality with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Customer Service Advisor (Manchester) - 12 Month Fixed Term

£16,500 - plus the opportunity to earn a performance related bonus of £170 per month

Our award winning Customer Service Team provides outstanding support to SpareRoom's 7 million registered users. As part of this team, our Customer Service Advisors handle all incoming enquiries whilst working alongside the Site Moderation Team who handle compliance and maintenance duties.

You'll be part of a busy team who work hard but who have fun along the way and are renowned for excellent service. The role is varied and will involve using both in-house and well-known computer systems.

Foundation Software Developer

As a Foundation Software Developer at SpareRoom you will be a member of the Core Team within the wider Technology Department of Flatshare Ltd. Flatshare Ltd is the parent company of SpareRoom.co.uk, the UK's largest property sharing website and SpareRoom.com, our recently launched US product which is growing significantly in New York City and across the whole of the US. Our core platform is written in Perl supporting a Web front end and native iOS and Android apps. We are currently growing the team capabilities and reviewing how best to re-engineer the platform to use modern architecture patterns to scale further and faster.

We are looking for someone to join us to increase our delivery capacity, bring new enthusiasm to the team and to help deliver both small functional enhancements and bug fixes and to be involved in larger key change projects to enhance the platform.

Responsiblites & Behaviours

We are looking for a passionate Foundation Software Developer looking to start their career in a fully digital ecommerce business.

We are looking for someone with:
  • A degree in relevant science, engineering or computing related subject is desirable but not essential. A passion for technical problem solving is a must though.
  • A passion to learn and develop personally aligned with a desire to create high quality products that are easy to test and maintain.
  • Knowledge of common web and API development, practical experience in either of them is a bonus.
  • Experience with frontend technologies HTML and CSS.
  • An interest in working across all areas of the system including performance and security.
Experience with any of these would be a real bonus:
  • Perl or NodeJS (experience in other languages would also be considered)
  • Data storage and caching systems, such as relational databases (we use MySQL) or No-SQL solutions and Varnish, memcached and CDNs (CloudFront, Fastly, CloudFlare or Akamai).
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) processes (Jenkins or CircleCI in particular).
  • Knowledge of TDD & BDD.
