Relocating to Wales

Currently living in Portsmouth with my boyfriend. I am looking for work within South Wales, ideally between Cwmbran to Brecon so am needing somewhere that can be a base for me as I search for both new work and houses.
As we rent in Portsmouth my partner is staying there till our contract ends whilst I find work and we can then eventually move to Wales into a new home together.
We'd like to be able to have the option for him to visit for a weekend here and there as he's currently freelancing for the local paper (Sports Journalist) Obviously I'd be popping back to Portsmouth from time to time as well.
I previously had a Personal Training business and also worked part time for a running shop.
I'm quite an active person, and the move will co-inside with my training to become a Mountain leader.
Ideally I need a place that feels homely, somewhere to relax, rather than a party house. Though I do like the odd glass of wine or beer whilst chilling out watching a movie or chatting I also like my space.
I consider myself to be a tidy person who would treat another's home with the respect I'd expect if they were at mine.
