I’m relocating back to UK (new to Scotland) from abroad and looking for a calm place to land while I transition back into life here. My property in Cambridgeshire is tenanted but may be sold this year, so I’m ideally looking for something 6-12 months.

– Ideally a small self-contained flat or guest space
– Open to a shared house with a private room large enough for a desk and ideally own bathroom and nearby coworking spaces

Must-haves:
– Parking - I have a car that I only use when I have to.
– Washing machine (tumble dryer a bonus)

Locations I am primarily interested in:
Edinburgh or along the train/bus line towards North Berwick, Dunbar, or Haddington.

About me:
I’ll be working remotely around 25–30 hours per week to start (mostly afternoons, 2–7pm). I’m a focused, desk-based remote worker — if my desk is in my room, I’ll be in my room. I like to get about and about in the mornings and keep a quiet routine. Alternatively, if I find a suitable house share, I am happy to go to a Co working space nearby for 4-5 hours a day to give the other person(s) space if needed.

Once settled, I may look to find a part-time morning role locally (I’m a qualified teacher). I travel regularly to Germany as my partner is based there.

I’m social and friendly, but I also value quiet time. I’m comfortable in adult households where we chat when it suits but everyone respects personal space. I’m also happy if you prefer arrangements where spaces are clearly designated and understood. I respect that it’s your home first.

Pets are absolutely fine.

Few extra considerations at this point:
I don’t need to bring all of my belongings now. I don’t need a firm long term commitment as I have my home in Germany to go back to if needed. I’m also open to the possibility that you rent out the space for the more profitable periods like the fringe/christmas, etc., if that is something you already do and want to keep doing.
