Looking for a lovely quiet house or flat to rent
I can afford to rent a flat or house on my own so am mainly looking for that. However I would consider a lovely, quiet, considerate house share if it was the right thing.
About Me
I am pretty laid back and get on with nearly anyone. I find that with a little curiosity, everyone has something interesting about them — connecting with people is one of the joys of life. That said, having my own space to recharge in is important to me, and I do experience periods of sound sensitivity, so I am looking for somewhere conducive to that.
I tend to be a morning person, though I am sometimes back late in the evenings. From April I will be working full-time with the civil service and have the option to work at home a few days per week. I am seeking a reasonably quiet environment and ideally a seperate work room to accommodate this.
What I'm Looking For
I am looking for my own property that I feel proud and comfortable to come home to. It needs to be quietish and a little beautiful. I need to be able to store my bike somewhere. I have my own furniture so unfurnished or part furnished please.
If I found the right houseshare though it would need to be with considerate, interesting housemates who can coexist mindfully and are interested in sharing a positive home experience. It would be lovely to have housemates I could call friends. I am clean and tidy and would prefer others who are similar, though I appreciate that life gets in the way sometimes and that's completely understandable.
I am ideally looking for an unfurnished room, but I do have a storage unit I could put things in.
Hobbies & Interests
I have a wide range of interests. I am drawn to Buddhism, psychology, philosophy, Quakerism and meditation — not from a religious standpoint, but out of a genuine curiosity about my inner life and connection with the world.
I enjoy DIY and woodworking and am a member of a local makerspace with access to a woodworking studio, 3D printer and laser engraver. I am regularly involved in small projects, including helping my partner renovate her canal boat.
I am out a few evenings a week, either board gaming, seeing friends or at the gregson centre.
I really love cycling and usually use my bike everyday. I have 2 bikes that I need to store somewhere. A space for this would be great.
I also enjoy board games and video games, and love to cook. I focus on organic wholefoods and have a strong interest in nutrition and am interested in foraging. I am vegan, though not preachy about it — you do you.
A Bit About My Background
I have been involved in a lot of paid and voluntary work in Lancaster and have genuinely loved giving back to the city. I spent about a decade supporting locals experincing homelessness. Most recently I worked as a coordinator for an ethical food distribution programme and in April 2026 I am starting with the civil service.
I try to live ethically and believe there are always opportunities to do something positive.
My current tenancy is paid up until the end of April, but I am willing to move earlier for the right place.
I have good credit, landlords references, history in property management so I understand issues before they arise and am good with condensation management.
I believe I will be an excellent tenant for the right landlord.
