On the edge of the Mendips, 10 mins from Weston-super-Mare or 15 to Cheddar, 35 mins from South Bristol, 10 mins from the M5, 12 mins from Worle train station.
Banwell is a village with 2 local shops, a Coop, Indian restaurant, Fish & Chip shop and 2 pubs. We're in the heart of the village, but away from the busy A-road, with access through a housing estate to avoid the 'Banwell traffic'.
The room is a double basement room with it's own private entrance. It is furnished with double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, shelving unit on the ledge and a two seater sofa.
There is also a sink in the corner and a central heating radiator.
Three sides of the room have a deep ledge with shelves, and there is a shoe/boot shelving rack by the door.
It is a large room approx 5m by 4m, although it does have a low ceiling - about 6ft 1".
The door has glass in the top half, and there is a window looking into the back garden, both giving light into the room.
The cottage is about 300 years old, a 5 bedroom cottage set in 1/3rd Acre garden.
The house has a living/dining room 25ft x 15ft with wood burner and also a smaller living room - the Snug, about 15ft x 11ft with a second wood burner inset into the wall in-between the living rooms.
There’s a kitchen with aga and dishwasher running along the back of the house. Bathroom with bath and shower, and also downstairs toilet. Everyone has sinks in their bedrooms.
The garden has a vegetable area where we can all grow our own vegetables with a greenhouse. There are also a 2 patio areas, one outside the back door with built in bbq and the other farther down the garden.
At the bottom of the garden there's off road parking and also street parking.
BT tell us that we're quite far from the junction box, so although we have WiFi, it would not cope with anyone else working from home until Banwell has cable installed.
We're open to either male or female housemates, and would consider pets.
Sadly, the little white dog in the photos left us in September, so we only have a cat now, and she doesn't venture into the basement.
Although we are open to animals, we feel that we would rather not have a dog living here at the moment, and our cat would probably harass another cat as she is now old and rather territorial.
However, if you have a hamster or a lizard, that would be a possibility!
Living here can be busy and sociable if you want company, or you can hide away in a quiet part of the house - there's usually one somewhere as it's so big - and read, play music or spend time on the computer, watch tv, or have your friends round.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who would like to find somewhere to call home, and who has some shared interests with us. We all share the maintenance of the garden, mowing the lawn etc. as we all enjoy using the garden. There are 2 wildlife ponds, a couple of hammocks and about 20 trees of various ages, including 6 apples and a pear tree.
The vegetable patch has strawberries, rhubarb and raspberries, and a few different berry bushes, along with plenty of space for annual edible plants to be grown.
If we sit down for an evening of TV together, it's most likely to be a nature documentary or a good film. We enjoy house meals together as often as suits, which can be weekly or bi-monthly depending on circumstances.
