Double Room in Beautiful Shared House

Ad ref# 11615926

THE DEAL: An unfurnished (but can be furnished) spacious double bedroom on its own floor next to a huge bathroom in a fabulous houseshare in awesome St Werburghs (next to St Pauls).

Walking distance from city centre with all amenities on your doorstep. £700 a month includes all bills, fibre optic broadband, TV licence, council tax etc. Bills on there own would be £150 so could think of it as £550 + bills without the hassle of having to deal with any of it and moving into a fully equipped pad.

THE HOUSE: The house is 3 storey grade 2 listed property with a garden and basement. It is big and spacious, with high ceilings, original fireplaces from the 1800s, wooden floors downstairs (carpet upstairs) and lots of built in storage. There are two reception rooms for entertaining guests. The kitchen and second reception room overlooks the garden with double doors opening out onto the patio and grass. Its beautiful in summer, see photo.

There is a shared toilet downstairs and a second shared bathroom on the top floor (toilet, bath and shower) next to the available double bedroom. I only use this to shower in so the new flatmate will basically have this as an en-suite. There’s lots of storage in the alcove of this bathroom as well.

The house is furnished and decorated really quirkily (is that a word? ). We don’t have a dryer or a dishwasher but got everything else!

THE COMMUNITY (location, location, location! ): Jubilee road is probably the best road in the Universe - the street has its own private Facebook group and as neighbours, we have at least 3 street parties a year (a summer one, with a competitive bake off and cakes judged by the local pub, the Duke, at the end of the road; a bonfire and fireworks party and a Christmas party). You will immediately be plugged into this awesome community with quite frankly the best neighbours in the world.

If you don’t know St Werburgh's, it’s the best place to live in Bristol in my opinion. Really cool, couple of amazing coffee shops, post office, Italian restaurant, wrap shop, 2 convenience stores, an off licence, a butchers, bakers and a candle stick makers, a brewery you can drink in on the weekends, 3 pubs (the Duke has a bowling alley in it for frick sake) a farm, and a whole food shop… the essentials. In 5 minutes, you can be walking over the fields above the railway on "the mound" with sites of the city. You wouldn’t expect this in such a central location, a stones throw from Cabot Circus, Broadmead and Stokes Croft.

The house is at the end of the street so there is no through traffic and always parking spaces, with no permit required. It’s the closest you can get to the city without paid on street parking. This also means it’s safe and surprisingly quiet at night considering it’s so close to the city centre and M32. You can walk to Cabot circus in 10 minutes, and the under pass connects you perfectly to St Pauls and Easton. I rarely have to use my car as everything is within walking or cycle distance.

THE CURRENT TENANTS (professional female, 28, daughter, 5): I am a 28 year old Marketing Manager for an events company. I sometimes work from home in my room though I head into a free lance co-working space on Wilder Street in Stokes Croft as well. I really love music (UK underground stuff but I have an eclectic taste), festivals, coffee, adventures, nature, BBC dramas and deep conversations.

I’m really clean and tidy in all the shared spaces. I make a habit of not leaving my stuff lying around, always wash up after my self and just keep things looking lovely. I think this is important in a shared house. My bedroom will tell you a different story - but that’s because it’s my bedroom. For some reason, other people’s stuff lying around annoys me way more than my own stuff (is this normal, I don’t know). I really dislike clutter and love the feeling of walking in to a tidy space (even though I’ll soon walk up the stairs into my room of doom). I also hate waste and am trying to save the planet- join me?

I live here with my 5 year old daughter Saskia. She’s off to school at 8.30 during the week and in bed by 7 so if you’re working, you probably won’t see much of her. She is an awesome child.

We tend to go away for school holidays so they’ll be extended periods of time where you’ll have the house to yourself.

We have a busy schedule during the week and our weekends are usually jam packed so I’m pretty exhausted in the evenings, though I am always up for grabbing a cuppa and maybe cooking an occasional meal or watching a good series with my future housemate.

Since I am not from Bristol and my friends and family are all over the place, I do sometimes have people to stay. I enjoy haveing people round for dinner from time to time and would love a housemate who is comfortable with this and equally sociable without overdoing it!

It’s definitely worth mentioning that I am a committed christian, so because of my beliefs, I can’t be under the same roof as tarot cards, angel cards, or anything like that, so really need possible tenants to be totally honest about this stuff. In the future, I’d like to use the living room downstairs one evening a week to host a prayer meeting. It’s not happening yet but good to be open about this stuff ay! In case you’re completely freaked by people praying out loud and singing (us Christians love to sing ha! )
