House Share BS13

House share to rent with live in landlord in BS13. There will be only two of us living in the house, so if that sounds interesting, please read on!

The House

I bought the brand new in 2019. It is modern, double glazed, economic to run and pretty much still brand new. The house is a three double bedroom house across three floors. It is a nicely decorated and fully furnished home, with lots of house plants and just a really pleasant place to live. I have the top floor en suite bedroom and use the third bedroom is used as my office / studio space so there plenty loads of space.

The room to rent is a double situated at the front of the house. It comes with a double divan bed with storage, a wardrobe and chest of drawers. It is a nice bright space and has two almost full height windows with custom fitted blinds. The room is carpeted and has a radiator, plenty of sockets, a TV point and the bed could be removed if you already have one. There is also plenty of space in the room for a desk and chair if you wanted to get these too. This room has never been lived in, so you could be the first be the first!

Between the bedroom and my office / studio at the back is the bathroom with a dual head shower over the bath. It has a heated towel rail and full height metro tiles around the bath. I don’t usually use this bathroom as I have the en suite upstairs, so you can consider this yours, unless we have visitors staying. In all, the house has three toilets and two bathrooms, shared between me and the new lodger so no mad rushes in the morning.

Downstairs the house has an entrance porch with space for jackets and shoes which leads to the living room with 43” Smart TV, Netflix, Sky channels, Alexa, and superfast fiber optic Wifi. From there, into a hallway with a separate downstairs loo and into the kitchen diner. Gas hob, fan oven, fridge freeze, washing machine drier, dishwasher, and all the cooking utensils, you could ever need. From the bright sunny kitchen there are large French doors that lead straight out to a patio in the garden. The garden is lovely and a real asset to the house, it is south facing and very sunny with large trees behind it. It is a fantastic space for coffee in the morning and beer/wine in the evening and the odd barbeque. There is a large shed and secure gated access to the drive. The drive is a double length space which is currently entirely unused as I am trying out living without a car, so the tenant will not have any issues parking at all. There is space for two cars on the drive and it has a power outlet if needed too. Also very close by there is additional off street visitor parking and street parking, so even if I do buy myself another car, it really wouldn’t be a problem.

Location

BS13 is not central Bristol but please do not let that put you off. It is a few minutes wonder the M1 metro bus which gets you into central Bristol and beyond very quickly at all times of the day. On the Metro bus it takes about 10 minutes to get to East Street or about 15 minutes to get to the center of Bristol at rush hour. There are also numerous other bus routes like the 71, 76 and 91 that also go into the middle of Bristol, but they take a little longer. Additionally, the buses to the Airport run behind the house so commuting there is very easy too.

I work at College Green and it is a very easy bus commute into work and also coming back well into the night when I have been to the pub. I often walk into work which takes me about 45 minutes and is a pleasant, paved traffic free walk through lots of green space. To cycle it is also an option if that is your thing.

Around the house there are plenty of options. Aldi is about 3 minutes’ walk away in Imperial Park, as is M&S food, Costa, Boots, Next, Homesense, The Range, Burger King, and loads of other shops. A little further on foot is Lidl at about 7 minutes away and Morrison’s about 15 minutes’ walk. There are also two gyms, two swimming pools, climbing wall, and cinema also within a few minutes’ walk away.

In short, the location of the house provides an easy commute with lots of options right on your doorstep. This house is very easy to live in without a car and still have access to all of Bristol, hence why I am currently trying to not buy a new one.

You

Ideally, I am looking for a friendly, honest, and considerate person to rent the spare room and share the house with me. I am hopeful this can be a longer-term arrangement rather than just a stop gap. I want the person to enjoy the house as I do, and to be able to consider it their home also. I would expect them to be a professional working full time, a non-smoker (vaper is fine) and with no pets (but read on about this), who is happy to keep the house tidy but lived in. Hopefully that isn’t too much to ask!

Me

I am a happy and chilled out 40-year-old male with a good sense of humor. I am friendly, genuine, and easy to get along with. I have lived in numerous houseshares myself as a tenant, so I know exactly what works and what doesn’t. Currently single and also gay, but that is by no means my defining characteristic. My interests include art in general, but specifically photography, cooking (I make decent pies!), and occasionally drinking too much. I would say I am a tidy and considerate person without being a clean freak, I am not the type to leave piles of washing up or overflowing recycling boxes. I am respectful of your personal space and possessions, in the same way as I would expect a tenant to respect my own.

I teach full-time and take my work seriously. At times, my work can be stressful, hectic and busy, and so I work from home some days of the week and in the evenings. I teach a creative subject, and so this means I am also a practicing artist which is a very important part of my life. I am well educated and professional, but I also know how to relax and have fun! So, while this will never be a mad party house, going to the pub after work, chilling out at home with beers at the weekend and enjoying what Bristol has to offer are also high on my priorities.

I also have a three-year-old Golden Retriever called Rupert who does not live at the house. He is super friendly, a bit excitable and loves everyone he meets. Rupert will happily sit on the sofa next to / on top of you, and also try to convince you he needs to try the food you are eating. He does spend time with me which could mean him being inside the house, although we can discuss this if its problem for you. I know a lot of people will see Rupert visiting us as a huge advantage, so I am mentioning him too but there can be some flexibility if needed.

The room will be available from around mid-September, so I am putting it out there possibly a bit early to find the ideal match.

If you read this far and think this all sounds good, please do get in touch with some information about yourself, why we would be a great match and what your current arrangements are, and we can take it from there. I‘ve got a very busy few weeks ahead of me so getting in touch as soon as possible would be ideal.
