Double room in family house in Downend

Mon-Fri let (£450) OR full time (£550) but we’d like to have the room available on a weekend every 6 weeks or so for my sister to be able to stay over. Sorry, weird arrangement I know - open to discussion!

Quiet and homely, we are professional couple with one (adorable!) toddler.

We have a spare room to rent out on a Monday to Friday basis - or full time if we could occasionally arrange for a weekend off here and there.

Looking for
A friendly, down to earth person with similar interests to us who will fit into our home.

Just to note up front...As much as your room would be private, my daughter will be very keen to make friends and engage with you probably any time you are downstairs so if you like kids but couldn’t eat a whole one then maybe swerve us!

My husband is out of the house Mon- Fri 6am-7pm at work and I work Wed-Thurs.

We are fairly easy going, would like someone who would like to share meals / cooking a couple times a week. Someone who’d like to go running or to the gym / yoga / for a cycle would be amazing. We also like going to walks on a weekend, ideally involving some sort of brunch or gin / cake.

We are still getting used to the responsibilities of having a toddler, so we don’t go out so much any more but we both have a good group of friends and (usually separately!) have a decent social life with one person on toddler duty! We don’t have any problem if you like to go out a lot, just as long as you are respectful rolling in in the early hours.

We are clean and try to be tidy but definitely not ‘minimalist’ in any way so if that’s you, perhaps steer clear (or show us how to Marie Kondo the place! please!).

My husband drives to Cardiff most days and I cycle to work along the cycle path.

I grew up in Devon and am pretty much obsessed by the ocean, can’t get enough. Love to have trips to the beach for some fresh air.

The room
Cosy Double room, with double bed, chest of drawers and hanging rail provided. If a desk is required in the room it can be arranged, or the dining room table downstairs is cleared between meals and available for use.

All bills included. This is gas, electricity, fibre broadband, council tax, water, Netflix and Amazon Prime. We can arrange for a desk in your room or you can bring your own.

You will be able to leave belongings at the weekend as long as the room can accommodate family / friends on occasion (maybe every 6 weeks?) at the weekends.

The house
Victorian end of terrace, medium sized I suppose. Lounge, separate dining room and kitchen downstairs and 3 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs.

Small front garden with side access to the larger rear garden. Room in rear shed for a bike.

Shared bathroom with shower over bath.

Shared living room if you’d like to also binge watch series on Netflix!

We have a lovely wood burner as well as gas central heating. Shelf available in the fridge and in the kitchen cupboards.

Generous west facing rear garden with patio area and BBQ available for use.

Parking in our road is easy in the evenings but a bit more tricky during the daytimes so it’s perfect for someone working ‘normal’ hours. There is no off road parking but honestly we never have a problem finding a space within sight.

We have a very old, very fluffy cat who is GORGEOUS, sometimes quite shy but loves a tickle and doesn’t bite or scratch.

The area
Downend is a beautiful suburb with cafes pubs, a deli, dry cleaners, post office, Sainsbury’s and Coop stores. There is easy access to the cycle path, the M32, M4 network and the nearest train station is Parkway which is a 3 mile cycle.

The house is about a 5 min cycle from the Bristol Bath cycle path which is a traffic free route directly to Bristol City Centre or Bath City Centre.
