I am renting out the spare room in my beautiful house in New Mills, available immediately.

The room is fully furnished with a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, some shelving and a TV. You will also have use of the living space in the rest of the house, including cosy living room with wood-burner, kitchen / diner, and south-facing garden. Ample on-road parking is available.

You would be sharing just with me as live-in landlady, and my sweet and friendly cat.

About me: friendly, clean and tidy. My work is based in Manchester, but I work from home three days per week. I love being out and about, running, hiking and spending time with friends, so home for me is a quiet space to relax and unwind after a busy day. I’ll respect your space, so you’ll respect mine too.

About you: I have rented out my spare room on and off for several years, and have got on well with lodgers of any age and gender – the most important thing is that we get on as people. You must be responsible, clean and tidy, and strictly non-smoking (including vaping). I would prefer someone who does not work from home, at least for the majority of the time. I am not looking for a housemate long-term, just renting out my room to save up some cash, so would suit someone in between places looking for somewhere short-term. Minimum term is one month; please let me know how long you would be thinking of staying when you contact me. For the time being, I would ask you to take a lateral flow test twice a week, as do I. Strictly no Covid anti-vaxxers!

About New Mills: 30 minutes by train from Piccadilly, just beyond Stockport and on the edge of the Peak District. Small town but with all necessary amenities (cafes and pubs, supermarket open late, GP, gym, swimming pool etc.) It offers the best of both worlds, with easy train connections into Manchester, but coming home to total peace and quiet. It is a great place for those who love the outdoors, with views out to Kinder Scout from the back of the house, and beautiful walks in the hills literally on the doorstep. The house is ten minutes’ walk from New Mills Central railway station.
