Rental for 2+ months only

I am renting out a room in my cottage which is in the centre of Totnes but set back behind the high street, so very quiet. Going down the hill, the river is five minutes walk away, and in the other direction, Greenlife and the market square are about five minutes up the hill.

The room itself is gorgeous - it is south-facing and so bathed in light. It has a ancient wooden floor, beautifully restored using eco-materials and it looks out onto my garden and behind that to the hills. At present it has a good-quality mattress and bed base, a small sofa, a storage unit with hanging space and a desk and chair.

The kitchen is open plan with a sizeable table, a good washing machine and a fancy blue fridge. The bathroom is mostly newly fitted, with a bath and a good shower. All of the floors are wooden, apart from the bathroom, which is newly-laid travertine marble.

There is a garden with a bench, and raised beds for anyone interested in growing food.

*** The house is currently on the market, and - just - under offer. I imagine it will take at least 3 months for the sale to go through, perhaps longer. I will ensure that anyone moving in is given 1-2months notice.

The £490 includes all the bills. The only thing on top is a share of household supplies - washing up liquid etc. We use eco-friendly stuff.

The house has both wifi and ethernet - each room has an ethernet cable - and the wifi is switched off most of the time. There are no smart meters. Only eco materials have been used throughout for all building and decorating for the past 16 years, and so there is no offgassing.

At the moment there is one other person in the house, a man in his twenties, super respectful and conscious. I am in the house as well, very part-time. I have worked as a therapist for more than a decade. I am now transitioning to being a writer.

I have been living here and renting out space here for 15 years, Sometimes there is quite a high level of community - such as sometimes having a meal together, watching movies and hanging out. And at other times, we have been more focused on our own lives. It really depends on what people want and how it unfolds.

I am looking for someone who is quite quiet, doesn't smoke, drinks only occasionally or not at all, and who is working at least part time. Whatever your food preferences are... no problem... as long as you are similarly accepting of others. Personally I eat a super clean organic diet, including a small amount of Riverford meat.

My preference would be to find someone over 35, but would consider younger people if on a similar wavelength.

All of us are, how shall I put it, not exactly in alignment with the mainstream narrative about Covid. We prefer someone unvaxed.
