Hi! We’re Laura and Jonay, two professionals looking for a new flatmate to join our home in Hove. Laura’s been here 15+ years and Jonay for 6, so it’s a settled, relaxed home rather than a high-turnover house share.
The room is a very large double, unfurnished, though it does include a couple of wall shelves and a small double bed if you’d like to keep it. It’s north-facing with a double-glazed bay box window and a (non-working) fireplace. There’s plenty of space....our previous flatmate comfortably had a bed, sofa area, desk, wardrobe and TV, with room to spare
The flat is spacious and great value for the area, with a large furnished living room and a good-sized kitchen (washing machine, fridge, separate freezer, plenty of storage, and fast internet). It’s a private rental, so there are no agency fees, and the deposit is £400.
The room is available now for the right person, at £600 per month plus bills (around £125).
Just to flag there’s currently building work happening in the flat above, due to finish by the end of April, so there is occasional daytime noise in the meantime.
We’re in a lovely spot in Hove (BN3), just 2 minutes from St Ann’s Well Park (our unofficial garden 😉), about a 10-minute walk to the sea, and close to Seven Dials and Western Road (Brunswick/Palmeira area). There are plenty of great cafés, bakeries and pubs nearby, and the no. 7 bus (Joining Hove to Kemptown) runs along our road. It’s around a 15-minute walk to Hove station and 20 minutes to Brighton, great commuter links. Parking is Zone O, with easy permits and no waiting list.
A little about us… Laura works across theatres and arts venues, often evenings and weekends, so her schedule can vary. Jonay works in film and TV, meaning he’s sometimes away and other times around during the day between projects.
We’re both into music, gigs and festivals, film, theatre and photography, as well as staying active - cycling, sea swimming, pilates, beach volleyball and generally being outdoors. We also enjoy travel and a bit of adventure. We care about the environment, social justice, and personal well-being, and value a relaxed, positive home.
It’s generally a calm, low-key home. We both have busy lives and tend to socialise out, so it’s more of a place to recharge. That said, we always enjoy a chat over a cuppa, the occasional drink, or a relaxed night in with a film, series or games.
We’re not a party house, although we do enjoy a good party.....we just prefer to keep that for outside the home these days 😉
We’re looking for someone friendly, easy-going and considerate....someone who has their own life but also enjoys a relaxed, shared home vibe. Ideally, you’d be a professional in your 30s or 40s, respectful of shared spaces, and naturally tidy. We’re not obsessive, just appreciate a home that feels comfortable and easy to live in.
Vegetarians or vegans would be a great fit (Laura’s a lifelong veggie, and while Jonay eats some meat/fish, he keeps it separate).
Sorry, we’re not able to accommodate couples or full-time students, and it’s a non-smoking home, so non-smokers only please.
If it sounds like a good fit, we’d love to hear from you, drop us a message and tell us a bit about yourself 😊
