We have a lovely double room to rent in our house in east Kemptown, a couple of minutes' walk from the beach and the downs.
It’s a really light room with a massive bay window looking out onto our back garden. It has two large built-in wardrobes, a decorative fireplace, bedside table and space for a desk if you’d like one.
The house
Overall the house is very roomy, with four double bedrooms, a living room at the front and a very large open plan kitchen and dining room at the back. Plus a good-sized courtyard garden with garden table and chairs.
The room shares a bathroom with one other person, and has a bath and shower. There's also a downstairs WC. We also have a large cellar with space for storing bikes, bags or boxes should you need it.
Location
We’re on a quiet residential street that looks onto the sea. The house is two minutes’ walk from Lidl, two minutes from the seafront, five minutes from the marina (including big Asda), five minutes from a little Coop, five minutes from the downs, 10 minutes’ walk from the hospital and the centre of Kemptown.
Us
There are three of us in the house – we (James and Martha) moved to Brighton from London in 2020. James is keen on cycling, swimming and climbing. Martha likes yoga, walking, foraging, cooking, reading. We have one other flatmate. We've loved having our existing housemates living with us and now would like to find someone equally lovely for our last spare room!
Another notable housemate is our gorgeous, friendly cat Timmy, who enjoys sleeping, curling up on your lap and being brushed. He is extremely sociable and will do his best to make friends with you, so cat-lovers only please!
We also occasionally dog-sit for a friend, so you would get to hang out with the lovely and very gentle dog Mali every now and again (she's the pooch in the pictures).
You
We are looking for a housemate who’d like to be part of a nice friendly home. (And someone who isn't allergic to cats or dogs!) The house is right by the downs and the sea, so ideal for anyone into running, hiking or sea swimming.
The room is for single occupancy, and non-smokers only. Let us know in your message a bit about yourself, what you do for a living and what you’re looking for.
**Note: Our house is currently on the market to sell. The room is available on a monthly rolling contract after the first two months. We will give lodgers a minimum of one month's notice before we sell. We envisage a sale is not likely to take place before summer 2024**
Bills etc
The rent is inclusive of bills: gas, electricity, water, council tax (band C), internet, a weekly cleaner for common areas, and also includes basic communal items like hand soap, washing up liquid, detergent, cleaning products, etc.
There is residents permit parking on the street if you need it (Zone H, no waiting list), and free parking one street over from us.
