I am a healthy active 84 . I offer free accommodation to someone in return for their reliable presence during non working hours as it is reassuring to have someone else in the house.
Until recently a mother and her child ( aged 10) had the 2 rooms - with use of the rest of the house . An excellent arrangement for them and for me - mother worked at Canary Wharf her child was bright and sensible. But she was unavoidably "tied" by having her child to care for so was at home evenings. weekends though she had friends who visited and sometimes stayed over. ( as did her son).
I was a teacher for many years before qualifying as a paediatric neurologist so happy to have reasonably stable children around. I was very lucky last time in this respect. Sadly for me mother and child had to return to New Zealand. They remain in touch with me though.
I read that it is hard for parents in this situation to find cheap accommodation so wondered if anyone might be interested ? There is no catch and no rent but would appreciate contribution to the huge ! gas and electricity bills of this largish house.
I would need reassuring references.
