Double room for rent in Chorlton/Firswood

Our lovely housemate Matt (and everyone's favourite housemate J. J. the cat) are sadly moving to Sheffield to move in with Matt's girlfriend so it's time to find someone new.

We are two housemates, Anya and Kate, both professionals—looking for a third housemate in a beautiful semi-detached house in Chorlton/Firswood.

Here are the boring details first:

The room: it is a lovely room at the back of the house with a view of the garden. It's big enough for a double bed and will come unfurnished.

The money: the basic rent is £440 a month and bills bring the total to approximately £600. This includes council tax, water, gas, electric, broadband internet and TV licence. We tend to take turns buying biscuits and toilet roll and other essentials. The security deposit is £440.

The rest of the house:

Separate living room and dining room - both pretty spacious. Comfortable chairs and sofas including a sofa bed for visiting friends. High biscuit turnover. Dining room great spot for house dinners or having a few friends over.

Kitchen is a decent size and has a fridge freezer and washing machine. Gas hob, plenty of cupboard space.

The garden is nice with lots of grass to enjoy any rare days of Manc sunshine or frequent days of rain. There’s a shed which is useful for storage, including for bikes.

The area:

Ah, Chorlton. Beautiful hipster Chorlton. We have plenty nearby. If you aren’t familiar with Chorlton-cum-Hardy, it’s lovely. Many shops and cafes and pubs. We are only 3 mins brisk trot from Firswood tram stop and less than 10 mins walk from a ton of bars.

The housemates:

At the moment, the house houses Anya, who works in research and public engagement at the Christie hospital. She enjoys running, reading and hikes (Peak District or further afield where possible!)

There's also Kate, who works as a creative facilitator in mental health and social settings. She is also into films and poetry and runs her own cabaret event in Levenshulme.

As a house, we've done meals and movies in and comedy nights or quizzes out for example. Someone is often around to put the kettle on or just to have a chat to. We'd love to continue the friendly, homely atmosphere going forwards and we're looking to be friends with whoever moves in. Although obviously nobody will demand any of your time; we do our own thing too.

Stuff that goes down well: TV quiz shows, wine, biscuits, cats and plants (Anya is still working on her ability to keep the latter alive).

The room will be available from around mid May, although our rent goes out on the 9th, so we’ll figure all the minutiae out once we’ve found the right person.
