Hello! ☀️
I’m Ellie, looking for a flatmate or flatmates to share a bright, sunny West End flat and create a calm, friendly, professional home — relaxed, welcoming and easy to live in, and hopefully a flat mate sitch where we can become good friends
It’s a calm, independent home where we each have our own lives but enjoy some shared time and a friendly atmosphere — somewhere that feels easy to live in rather than just somewhere to sleep.
✨ About the flat
The room available is the larger bedroom — spacious enough for a large bed, at least the same floor space again if not enough for two more double beds, with a big triple wardrobe and lots of south facing natural light onto Lawrence st. It sits at the end of a corridor in a separate section of the house to the kitchen and living room next to the bathroom, so it feels very private and separate from the main living space - almost like it is it's own flat.
The flat itself is top floor, south-facing and incredibly bright with an incredible view over the university buildings.
The living room is huge and filled with light most of the day — a really lovely space for reading, cooking, or having coffee while the sun comes in. It stays warm and cosy even in winter.
There are two storage cupboards as in most Glasgow tenament buildings. There is also a hallway and doors with all original stained glass windows.
The bathroom has a double shower, gas heated (not electric like most of these flats) and a huge bath as well as a laundry rail.
My room is smaller and closer to the living room and kitchen, so the available room feels like a bit of a peaceful retreat within the flat as it's off the main road and separated by a corridor and 2 rooms.
The room is available from the 23rd (rent payable from that date). I’ll be moving in on the 31st and bringing things across gradually during that week.
🌿 About me
I’m 34 and work for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, supporting organisational and leadership development for the new virtual hospital. I also run a small coaching practice supporting people and creative communities to build skills and sustainable ways of working.
I love my job — it involves lots of workshops, coaching and conversations — and I’m generally sociable but really value calm downtime at home to support my work and wellbeing. I'm pretty ambitious!
Outside work I enjoy:
- running 🏃♀️
- solo jazz, house and Lindy hop dancing 💃
- making music (folk fiddle, piano and electronic — music used to be my career) 🎻
- cooking and sharing meals 🍲
- reading 📚
- volunteering with grassroots community spaces 🤝
I’m new to Glasgow and excited to make the most of the city.
🏠 Home life
To note: this is a new flat and a chance to establish a home together!. I have signed the lease already. We would have access from the 23rd and the landlord has just told me we can access earlier at no extra rent if that's something you'd need, to view or move in gradually
I’m hoping to create a home that feels warm, respectful and grown-up:
Typical rhythms for me are:
- cooking proper meals a few nights a week (happy to share if you’re around!)
- evenings out at classes, gigs or running club
- good conversation when we’re both home - this is a must!
- quiet nights and good sleep
I work from home occasionally (around once a week). There's enough space for a WFH if you needed it.
I’m also sober — completely fine if you drink, I just can't share the wine with you.
👥 Guests & shared space
I’m very happy for the flat to feel welcoming — friends and guests are absolutely welcome. Equally, I’m hoping to keep the flat feeling like a home shared between people so all flatmates still feel equally at home in the space. Ours rather than mine and yours.
✨ What I value at home
- intentional kindness and consideration that drive proactive tidiness. Care for the space = care for each other! I'd rather just do it and not have rotas
- a calm, cosy environment. Books and radio before TV and laptops :)
- shared spices, cooking equipment and basics (I've got some amazing amazing pans)
- clean without being obsessive about it - helping each other out
- people who look after themselves and their wellbeing
- my smol subscription!
This isn’t a party flat — more a peaceful base to come home to. But occasional dinner parties would be lovely, as would a low key house warming!
🔎 Who I’m looking for someone or a couple:
Ideally who:
- is a working professional with a similar weekday rhythm
- enjoys chats and hanging out over hiding in their room - maybe even has some community living experience
- is tidy and respectful of shared space
- is generally quiet at night
- wants to be friends making a home together rather than passing ships
Not suitable for students, I’m afraid, unless you're a paid PhD candidate who's full time working.
If this sounds like a good fit, drop me a message telling me:
- a bit about you
- what you enjoy outside work
- your schedule/working pattern
- what a good home environment looks like for you
…and kick it off with the word Banana so I know you’ve read this 😊
Looking forward to hearing from you!
I’m hoping to find someone who’s excited to have a comfortable, grown-up home in the city. 🌿
Conversations / calls week beginning march 10th. We may be able to view the flat again from the 14th but can't guarantee this.
Oh yeah! Council tax band c and bills anticipated to be average or less for Glasgow tenament buildings as flat is well insulated and the cooker is electric.

P. s for couples I would want to negotiate rent of £900pcm as most of the space is shared.
